Dealing with Anger

August 31st, 2007

“When I was growing up,” Annette tells me, “girls weren’t
supposed to get mad. Just as we were supposed to sit still, and
not speak unless spoken to, we were supposed to look pretty and
keep a smile on our face. It’s no wonder I had migraines for so
many years. And when I did start dealing with it, I had no idea
what to do about it.”

“There was something wrong with her, I think,” Anthony told me.
“My ex-wife … she never got angry, all the time we were married.
Not once.” He paused and looked away. Then he added, “She just
threw the keys on the table one day and walked out. I had no
idea there was anything wrong.”

“‘Let it all hang out’ was the catchword sometime around the
late 70’s,” says Martha. “After years of being told NOT to
express our anger, we were supposed to do so all the time. I
remember this period of time as very unpleasant. We got it from
all sides. It was very, um, noisy.”

“In the 80s, they were telling women to stomp around, talk
loudly, and assert themselves. We were supposed to ‘get angry’
in order to compete with men in the work world,” says Paula.

Anger … how we struggle with this primitive, upsetting emotion.
Denied to women, it was at the same time the “all purpose”
emotion for a generation of men – the only legitimate way they
could express any emotion, since tenderness, grief, shame and
sympathy were women’s territory.

We are more accepting now for both genders to have all feelings
(like we had a choice), and yet we still don’t know what to do
about anger. “Anger kills” and the evidence mounts daily how
detrimental this emotion, unmanaged, can be to our health –
physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Can’t we just do away with this emotion we dislike so much?
Reach some state of nirvana where we’re always “happy” and
nothing bothers us? Not likely, and if we could, we’d be missing
a great source of information.

The key is not to get rid of anger – or any other emotion – but
to learn how to deal with it in a manner that’s not harmful to
ourselves or to others, and to heed its message.

There have been more “fads” about anger, than fingers on my
hands, and I’ve lived through many of them. So how are we
dealing with it now? What’s the latest?

Let’s get away from “fads” and get to the nitty-gritty about
this potentially destructive, yet vital, emotion.

WHERE IT COMES FROM

Anger, in its rawest form, comes from the primitive, or
reptilian brain. While “anger” encompasses many things when we
experience it, comes from many causes, and contains many
puzzling layers, at the bottom it’s aggression.

Emotions from the reptilian brain are designed for survival, and
are stronger than our thoughts will ever be. If we didn’t pay
attention to them, we might come into harm’s way. They’re
designed to preclude thinking. When the insult comes, or the
push, or the threat, we react … just as if there were a beast in
front of us, threatening our life.

Adrenalin starts pumping and we move into fight-or-flight.
There’s no time to think, or we’d be dead … at least the way the
emotion was originally designed to operate. The trouble is,
today there are few real threats to our existence, but our
bodies don’t know the difference, and so we react.

CAN WE IGNORE IT?

We ignore it to our peril. We are our emotions, and if we shut
down one, we shut them all down. If you aren’t willing to
experience the “bad” ones, you can’t experience the “good” ones,
to about the same degree.

I’m reminded of a friend who told me in one breath about the
death of his mother, and the birth of his first child, as if he
were reporting the Dow Jones for the day.

His inability to deal with his grief and anger at his mother,
rendered him unable to rejoice at the birth of his daughter.
Foregoing pleasure was the price he paid for being numb.

Our emotions are our guides. Anger tells us something is wrong
we need to deal with. And even if “you” choose to ignore it,
your body isn’t. It will talk to you in migraines, back pain,
ulcers, depression, and fibromyalgia.

Anger compromises the immune system. Illness ensues. It isn’t a
question of whether or not you can ignore it; you can’t. It’s
whether you’re mindful of it or not.

It will also talk to you in aborted careers, shattered
relationships, and damaged children. “The sins of the fathers
are visited upon the sons,” refers to legacies of dysfunction.

CAN WE ACCEPT IT?

We have a long communal history of judging our anger and finding
it “bad”. It’s hard to accept. It makes us somehow “not nice.”
The physiological response to it doesn’t feel good, and we wish
it would go away. We want to be “calmed down; at least those of
us who aren’t so addicted to it we’re living in a state of
hostility, on the verge of going postal, walking time bombs,
coronaries waiting to happen.

However, the more we fight it, the greater the hold it will have
on us, and we compound the stress. It takes energy to stuff it
down and that takes its toll. Besides it doesn’t work.

The first step is to recognize and accept it. “Nothing’s either
good or bad, but thinking makes it so,” said the poet, and this
applies to all our feelings, including anger. They are. They
happen. They’re there for a reason, which should be noted.

Judging our emotions only compounds the stress. Even in the
Bible it says, “Be angry, and yet do not sin. Do not let the sun
go down on your anger.” [Ephesians 4:26] The New Living
Translation phrases it, “Don’t sin by letting anger gain control
over you.”

It gains control over us when we do one of two things – either
ignoring it, or reacting to it in knee-jerk fashion, and doing
something harmful.

What’s the alternative? Sit with the anger. Experience it.
Acknowledge it. Then move yourself to the higher center of the
brain, the neocortex, and figure out what to do about it, if
anything. Respond, don’t react. Put a pause in between feeling
and action. Be willing to do nothing, while feeling it at the
same time. But don’t ignore it.

Better Anthony’s wife had told him each time she was angry and
asked for changes rather than just throwing the keys on the
table one day and walking out. Then it was too late. There was
too much water under the bridge, too much resentment, too much
to deal with.

When we stuff it down, it’s likely to come out in the “kick the
dog syndrome” as well. Some unsuspecting person will be the
brunt of our resentment toward someone else, or we’ll get drunk,
or crash the car, or trash our life in some way. Anger is energy.

LET IT PASS

One way to deal with anger is to learn to forgive. This is a
long learning process for most of us, but, of course, we have
plenty of opportunity to practice it. Unjustices occur all the
time, and we have all been wronged. Learning to let go of this
anger is part of Emotional Intelligence.

One reason this is a good policy is because many of the most
grievous injustices can’t be undone. An apology wouldn’t be
enough.

Therefore, we forgive, and we do so for our own benefit, not the
benefit of the perpetrator. The anger will eat us up, while
having little effect on the object of our anger, which means we
are twice victims, and more the fool.

USE IT (POSITIVELY)

Channel the energy. When your boss makes you angry, go chop wood
when you get home. Use the anger over your divorce to flame
through graduate school. Get angry at the opposing team and win
the football game. Write poetry when your mother dies. Master
Rachmaninoff’s 3rd Concerto when your wife runs off with another
man.

NAME IT, CLAIM IT, AIM IT, TAME IT

This is another method for dealing with anger. Name the feeling
and claim it. It’s your anger.

Intellectually speaking, someone could have said the same thing
to someone else, and it would’ve had little or no effect. YOU
are in the equation! “Aim it” means know where it’s coming from.
Don’t slap your child because your partner infuriated you. “Tame
it” means learning to self-soothe.

Developing your emotional intelligence can help eventually to
modulate your feelings. (So can therapy.) You experience them
less strongly after time, if you work at dealing with them as
they come up.

DON’T REPRESS IT, DON’T EXPRESS IT, CONFESS IT

This is Paul Pearsall’s formula. He has a Ph.D. in
psychoneuroimmunology and is the author of “The Pleasure
Principle.” His work on anger is compelling, as he has studied
the effect it has on our immunology system, which is our health.

Repressing anger makes us sick, and so does expressing it.
There’s a plethora of research showing that just recalling an
angering event causes the same reaction as if it were happening
again in real time. Why do this to yourself over and over again?
Wasn’t once enough? Skip the war stories, and skip the bypass,
yes?

“Confess it,” says Pearsall, meaning roughly that you
acknowledge you have it, and that maybe you aren’t “yourself,”
or thinking straight. You take a break. Breathe deeply. Count to
ten. Think it over. Move on.

YOU MANAGE IT, OR IT MANAGES YOU

Learning to manage anger is part of emotional intelligence. We
are never far from the two-year-old throwing a tantrum. “We
never grow up,” someone said, “We just learn how to behave in
public.” The difference is self-awareness and tools –
understanding the emotion, being able to stop, self-soothe and
think it through, and not letting it get the better of us.

Winter Season Come: Basic Steps to Winterize Your Bike

August 31st, 2007

We know that motorcycle enthusiasts out there are knowledgeable
enough in how to care for their bikes. Having a motorcycle and
considering it as a prized possession is indeed tedious work.
And here, we would like to share bits of information about
several things that you may find really important, especially if
you’re a motorcyclist from northern climates.

Northern climates motorcyclists experience dilemmas during the
winter season comes. Once winter approaches, they either take
the option of continuing their motorcycle riding, not wishing to
be apart from their motorcycles for the winter spell or they
winterize their motorcycles and put it away until spring comes.
Winter brings with it cold, icy, wet weather. These conditions
do not bode well for your motorcycle’s condition and neither is
it a great condition for riding your bike.

Every motorcyclist may have many different opinions on how to do
the process of winterizing their motorcycles. Doing it is a
matter of grave significance in order to restore the power and
built of your motorcycle in order for it to be sturdy during its
active lifespan. Once you have decided on putting away your bike
temporarily as the winter sets in, here are several basic steps
to winterize your bike and put your mind at ease for the rest of
the winter. •Even before the winter sets in, check over your
motorcycle for any mechanical problems. If you find something
wrong, put it in repair immediately. •The engine oil and oil
filter of your bike must be changed. After this, run the engine
briefly so that the oil can circulate completely through the
system. Try to avoid using used motor oil as it is contaminated
with acids. Drain your float bowls by running the engine,
shutting off the fuel or letting the engine use up the fuel in
the float bowls. •After the last ride of the season, top off
your gas tank. This will prevent water condensation in the tank.
You can treat your gas with a gasoline stabilizer for your fuel
to stay good through the winter. •Your motorcycle’s battery
should be checked. This entails cleaning the battery terminals
and connecting a Battery Tender or similar trickle charger. You
can also remove the battery and store it in a warm, dry place.
•Take time to clean and wax your bike. •After cleaning and
waxing it thoroughly, dry it up real good and cover it. Find a
nice and warm garage that’s safe from cold drafts in which to
store your bike. •Ooops! Before leaving your bike alone in its
cozy place, check your tires and inflate them to the proper
pressure. •Also, make sure the garage you found can be locked up
real tight and the registration and other papers are removed
from its case.

There’s no law saying not to drop in on your bike every couple
of weeks. This will remind you that once the winter is gone, you
and your bike will both be back in the road again! -30-

Multi Table Poker Tournament Tips

August 31st, 2007

You want to enter a limit tournament so you have to have in mind the gap concept. This is the most obvious change you will have o consider when revising your strategy for a tournament like this. You will pay mare attentions to actually winning every pot you get into and the pot odds will be somewhat disregarded here. This doesn’t mean you will do obvious bad moves and get yourself into things you cannot handle. The blind are large when you get yourself further into the tournament, and this is the reason for which you will try and get as little competitors as you can stealing as many blinds as you can to help you rise within the tournaments statistics.

The thing to do is to go through with the hands you see capable of winning the pot. Here hands change values. For example the straight and the flush draws lose their value and high pocket pairs are not so good. On the other hand hands like AK or AQ have a much bigger value because they beat all similar hands like AT, KQ etc. But as you approach the finish you should not get involved with heavy conflicts like when having an A J and you are up against A K. With A J you might get the pot if the flop shows A J, but the A K stands the same chance and it all comes down to luck.

In tournaments you don’t go after getting the whole amount of chips your opponents have, you don’t necessarily want them to pay your hands greatly, you just want to make them afraid. If they know your hand is a dominating one, they will fold and you can this way slowly increase your stack. And you should do the same whenever you feel threatened by a better hand. As the gap concept says, if you raise with a hand like A 9, then a player that has a hand like A 10 will fold, because he must consider the situation in which you could have a better hand like A J.

If you dealt high pocket pairs like KK or AA you should call any raises that were done in front of your. Raising again will help you eliminate players from the round and that is your purpose. Being this aggressive with top hands you show others that you are indeed determined to take all their chips if they were to continue playing against you.

But, you must never forget to judge the hands of others. While playing your hand make time to reflect what other can hold. Understand the gap concept makes you a good player, but keep in mind that there are bad players out there and they will call your bets and raises just because they have a good hand, regardless of what others might have.

The PSP Report Card - One Year Later

August 31st, 2007

Well folks, the psp has now been out for about one year and its time to take a look at how it has done and whether or not it lived up to its expectations. All in all, I would say that the graphics on mostly any psp game definitely looked awesome. Its hard to believe how far technology has actually come over the years. It doesn’t seem that long ago when I can remember playing Tetris on my gameboy and i thought that was the best thing since sliced bread. Boy have we come along way, huh.

One disappointment I had with the average psp game is that most of them were just a copycat of games already out there for the ps2. Not that this is such a bad thing, because there are many excellent ps2 games which did translate to an excellent psp game, but I would just like to see some more originality for this system. How about using the psp to its full potential? Come on you software designers, lets see a new idea for a psp game once in awhile!

When questioned about this, some of the developers blamed it on lack of time, and that they were also busy with ongoing ps2 projects, so sometimes a psp game would have to take a back seat.

The good news is from what I’ve been reading is that they are really looking to expand the psp experience with new original titles and not the same old psp game that is already out there and played into the ground on ps2. So we will keep our fingers crossed and see what the future holds and keep our eye out for some new original games for the psp.

Soulmates

August 31st, 2007

When one is alone
One feels that there is something missing
One longs for something that is not there
Something to fulfill oneself

When one is alone
One tries to answer one’s questions
But at times one cannot find the answer
One, once again, longs for something

When one is alone
One then figures out what one needs
One searches for another
Another that he’s been longing for

On the other side of the earth
The other feels similarly
The other undergoes similar experiences
Soon the other does the same

Building a Deck – Things to Check if Using Softwood Species

August 31st, 2007

Whilst hardwood is generally the preferred lumber species for exterior decking due to its hardness, resistance to wear and attractive colour, softwood species are commonly used, particularly where cost is an important factor. But the drawback of most softwoods is that they are not naturally durable so are unsuitable for use in areas fully exposed to the weather unless the wood is properly treated with a recognized wood preservative or completely sealed with an impervious surface coating. So when selecting a softwood species, one of the most important considerations is that these species used should be either a recognised naturally durable species such as Western Red Cedar, some species of cypress, larch or pine, or that it has been treated with an appropriate and good quality preservative.

For more than 70 years, the most commonly accepted wood preservative treatment chemical has been CCA (copper chrome arsenic), which gained popularity due to its effectiveness and relatively low cost. (CCA treated lumber can normally be distinguished by the greenish tone it imparts to the wood). However in recent years, many national organisations and authorities have announced either bans or restrictions on the use of lumber treated with CCA. For example, in Australia from March 2006, CCA treated timber will no longer be permitted for use as handrails, decking boards, picnic tables, or children’s playground equipment in new installations. And in Japan, CCA treated lumber is generally not permitted any longer for public use in major cities for municipal projects.

Although there is apparently no firm scientific proof to support the contention that CCA timber is harmful to health provided it is handled correctly, such cautions or bans have been instituted as a precautionary measure. Nevertheless it is always best to err on the side of safety, so it is recommended that when working with CCA treated lumber, to apply protective clothing including goggles, face mask and gloves. CCA treated lumber also should never be burnt in an open fire but must be disposed of according to local regulations.

Fortunately a number of alternative wood treatment products to replace CCA are now available, the most common of which is probably ACQ (alkaline, copper, quaternary). Such products use low toxicity, active ingredients such as recycled copper and modern organic biocides to give the lumber the required long-term protection against wood destroying fungi, termites and other wood eating insects. Although such products have not been available for a sufficiently long time for extensive natural durability data to be collected, most manufacturers will provide at least 25 years guarantee on the life of treated lumber.

So if you wish to use a softwood species for your deck, check what preservative treatments have been applied, and especially with the newer preservative treatment chemicals, ask what guarantee the lumber supplier is prepared to offer on the lifetime of the decking material. Although untreated softwoods typically have a very short life in exterior exposed conditions, if pressure treated with appropriate chemical, a softwood deck will provide many years of continual use and enjoyment.

Best Acne Treatments Start With Understanding Your Current Lifestyle

August 31st, 2007

If you happen to be searching for the best acne treatments, before you choose your treatment I would suggest that you take a little memory trip back to your teen years, and assess how your skin used to be back then.

For individuals still in their teens, I would recommend that you check and see what is going on in your life right now, and see what may be different or has changed prior to you having your problem skin!

I know most of you may think that it’s all part of nature, or it’s part of your family genetics, and you would like to find that miracle cure! However, the true problem may exist because of your lifestyle choices, and until you fully understand why you’re currently experiencing severe blemish breakouts, or increased blackheads in your pores, you can then follow the cycle of your consistent outbreaks that cause you to feel helpless in your battle.

It’s a fact that our society is placing more pressures on students, and many working individuals. Schools are placing more study loads on the student, and the business industry is downsizing, causing more hours to be placed on the employees! What this does to your body and your mind is that it places an incredible load of stress on you, as well as the affects, which can easily change your daily lifestyle.

You may be asking, how does this all come into play with my acne condition, and how do I connect these facts to my acne treatment?

There are many studies out today indicating that “stress” and the way you take care of your body, and the products you may be using are a contributing factor to your pimples and blackheads. If you can look back when you had good skin and see what you may have been doing differently, you could hopefully make some lifestyle changes for the better. With these changes, you could possibly see positive results, and avoid having to take acne medications prescribed by your dermatologist.

There are many elements that can be contributing to your skin blemishes, and the ingredients in the select treatment product you’re using can also be the cause of your skin irritation, which is causing your reoccurring pimple breakouts. So let’s look at some topics that have come up in some studies, and see if we can clarify some of the elements that may be affecting your current lifestyle.

Facial Medications, Caffeine, Stress, And The Sun! What Do They Have In Common, And How Does It Affect Your Blemish Situation?

I’m not a doctor, and I don’t have any professional skin care background, but what I do have is a common sense approach to issues. When I read about certain acne products, and also the food and drink we consume on a daily basis, plus the type of life we live makes sense to me when we mix it all together and try and link it to our skin condition.

First we should talk about coffee, pop and alcohol, and see what the connection is to skin problems. In my opinion, the way I interpret coffee, pop and alcohol is that they contribute several elements to your body that assist in major changes to your skin.

Caffeine and sugar in coffee and pop, plus alcohols are partial diuretics that assist in drawing more water out of your body than bringing water back in, plus they’re a stimulant and can prevent you from getting the recommended amount of sleep that your body needs, which ranges from at least 7 to 8 hours per night. What this all means is that by consuming these products daily, they could be changing the entire dynamics of your body, and affecting you dramatically without you even realizing the changes.

What happens is this: your body may become over stimulated with all these items going through your system, and either consumed separately or in combination, your skin may seriously become affected by these products. Depending on your body’s tolerance level, your reactions could be reflected by the daily consumption.

Let’s look at the connection of the cleansers, creams, and acne cosmetics you’re currently using, and see why some may not work to prevent your acne breakouts or increased blackheads. When taking a common sense approach to the ingredients, avoid any product that will shrink your pores! Now this information may contradict products that say they reduce pore size, and make them look less visible.

What that means I don’t know. But when you think about it for a moment, if you have a product that shrinks your pores, that’s going to increase the chance that you will have more oil trapped in your skin. The more of the skin’s oil that is potentially blocking your pores, the higher chance you’re going to form blackheads and whiteheads, plus the trapped oil will be tasty food for bacteria that feeds off the oil and dead skin, eventually turning it into a nasty blemish. Think about that, and if it makes sense to you, then avoid products that have any astringent agents in them.

The sun is one that I have been very confused about for a long time, but again when it was explained to me, it made total sense, and now I really understand the benefits and the damages it can cause. The sun actually can help you in your battle on acne; however, the time you spend in the sun can make the big difference. I found out that the sun actually aids in killing bacteria on your skin, but you should limit your time to approximately 15 minutes per day, because when you spend long periods of time in the sun, it will eventually dry and reduce the pores in your skin. Now like above, what happens when the pores shrink? Absolutely, trapped oil and the formation of zits!

Stress, in my opinion, is the biggest contributor to your body’s lifestyle changes, and believe it or not, it seems to tie in with everything above, because stress is caused by many elements from the types of food you consume, to the everyday lifestyle you lead with your work and play.

Again, I’m not a doctor, but even with my own body I notice that if I don’t get enough sleep, or I worry about a project that has to be completed, and the everyday choices I make in cleaning my skin all is in some way a contributor to stress, and the changes in my body. So when you sit back and see if you can adjust anything in the way you live your life for the better, you may be on the right track to not only a healthier lifestyle, but also clearer, blemish free skin!

How to install and run phpAdsNew

August 31st, 2007

What is phpAdsNew? It is great script written in PHP which can be used to manage different ad campaigns on your website. PhpAdsNew supports banners of any size (including flash banners), pop-ups, text ads and many different types of rich media ads. Using this script you can manage third party ads, e.g. ads from banner exchanges. And the good message is that this script is free.

How to install phpAdsNew?

First, ensure that your web hosting provider offers PHP support (PHP 4.0.4 or higher) and MySQL database (3.23.3 or higher). Then download the zip or tgz package and unzip it to your hard drive. You can use WinZip or Total Commander to do this. Now upload the files to your web host. Change the permissions of the config.inc.php file using “chmod a+w config.inc.php”. Create new MySQL database with any name, e.g. phpadsnew (or use existing database). Now you are able to run the installer. Point your browser to http://www.yourdomain.com/phpadsnew (or another folder where you copied the files). Follow the instruction on the screen and finish the installation process.

Another and easier solution how to install this PHP script is to sign up for a quality web hosting service which offers pre-installed PHP scripts. Then easily go to your control panel, find the section with pre-installed scripts and select phpAdsNew. The installer will do all the job for you. All you need to do is to choose the script you want to install.

How to run phpAdsNew?

Go to admin interface and create at least one zone. Zone is the place on your website where the ads will be displayed (e.g. top banner on the home page can be zone 1, bottom banner on the section page zone 2 etc.). Then create a new client. When you’re done, create new campaign for this client. You can set up the zone(s), limit of banner / text ads / rich media… impressions, when the campaign will start and finish, the frequency at which the ad will be shown and many other options.

Ok, we have some campaigns now and they are sucessfully running. But every advertiser wants to check the results of his campaign. From this reason phpAdsNew has very detailed stats section. Your advertisers (or you if you use this script to manage your own ads) will be able to see how many times was particular ad viewed by the website visitors and click through rate (how many % of visitors clicked the ads). In addition, you can watch weekly and daily stats. Stats can be exported to *.csv file (data from *.csv files can be opened by software like MS Excel on your computer).

I hope you will find these information helpful when you will start using phpAdsNew. If you will need some advanced functions I suggest to open phpAdsNew/misc/documentation folder where are stored three *.pdf files with very detailed description of this script. The first one, administrator-guide.pdf, will help you with the installation process and configuration. Developer-guide.pdf is for advanced users with PHP knowledge. The most important file is user-guide.pdf which will provide you by all the functions. Btw. this file has 109 pages. Good luck!

Affiliate Marketing: The List and Why You Need It!

August 31st, 2007

If you are new to affiliate marketing, you might not yet be aware of the greatest resource at your disposal. No, it isn’t the latest guide to using Adwords to drive pay-per-click traffic to your promotional efforts. It’s not a great product, either. It’s not a great copywriting style or a good collection of product testimonials. It’s your list.

The list to which we are referring is your list of potential product buyers. You generate that list the first day you start working in affiliate marketing. You find ways to build a healthy mailing list of people who may later become customers (and those who have already made purchases. When you come across a great product to promote, you can pitch it to your list instead of relying on site construction and finding ways to generate traffic to your sales sites.

How do you assemble a good list? There are a lot of tactics. One popular strategy is to offer a free giveaway and to require an email address to get them. The person obtaining the freebie is required to opt-in to your mailing list in order to get access. Freebies may consist of anything from an on-topic report to a piece of software. You can be creative or stick with the tried and true.

Most successful affiliate marketers spend a great deal of time keeping their list happy and developing a level of trust and credibility with those on it. They may supply a regular free newsletter that provides both valuable content and sales efforts relating to products they may find useful. A great newsletter can develop a loyal following of readers who will trust the affiliate’s judgment with respect to product recommendations.

The results can be amazing. Instead of waiting months to build adequate supplies of site traffic, the affiliate marketer can instantly access a horde of potential buyers with a simple email.

The list is an affiliate marketer’s lifeblood. One of the reason those who are already established seem to have the “Midas touch” every time they choose a new product actually owe their success to having built a strong list to whom they can sell. The list becomes their route to impressive fast sales.

Building an enviable list will can take time and effort, but the end result is more than worthwhile. You end up with a list of people you know to be interested in the kinds of items you are promoting and are able to tailor a message to their overall needs.

It’s never safe to say that any sale is easy. However, sales do tend to come a bit faster and bit easier to those who have cultivated a great list. Veteran internet marketers like to say “it’s all about the list,” and there’s a reason why that saying is true. The list is any affiliate marketers best sales tool.

I can’t

August 31st, 2007

I can’t or is it I won’t?

What do you really mean when you say I can’t? I mean really,
truly honestly?

Is it really that you can’t do something or is it mostly because
you won’t do it?

These are questions you need to ask yourself everytime you say I
can’t, every time a task you know you need to do is put to one
side because your excuse is I can’t.

That’s right I said excuse.

I found most of the time I can’t means I won’t, or I don’t feel
like doing it, in fact whenever you say I can’t, you really are
saying I won’t. It is just an excuse to not do something.

If you look at all the things you have done in your life, how
many started with a “I can’t”? I know most of the things you can
do now you couldn’t do at some time, and you probably said “I
can’t”. I know, I still do it, I see people around me doing it.
I have taken the time to notice when I do it so that my business
and marketing efforts don’t suffer.

Every time I think or say those two little words, my business
takes a dive. So I look at it again and see what “I can’t
actually means for me that time. See if these examples are the
same for you… “I can’t sell it for that much” is an excuse for
“I don’t value myself enough” “I can’t do that” usually means
“I’m too lazy to try” or “It looks difficult” sometimes it just
means “I’m afraid how I’ll look if I failed”

Watch out for “I can’t” and take the time to realise what you
really meant. By noticing when you use I can’t, and analysing
what you really mean at the time you say it, can make a huge
difference to all areas of your life. Your personal life will be
better if you can. Your business will grow faster if you can.
Your whole life will improve if you can.
