What Makes Effective Fly Fishing Flies?

August 30th, 2007

As any experienced lover of fishing knows, the type of fly makes all the difference when it comes to catching fish. But what exactly makes a truly effective fishing fly? There’s a lot more to making an artificial bug on a hook than you might imagine. Before heading out on your next fishing trip, do a little research online about the companies that make the fishing flies you are considering purchasing and compare their fly making process with the basic standards of a well crafted fishing fly.

Master Craftsmanship

Fly tying is an art that takes years to truly perfect. Just like a homemade apple pie from a tenured baker tastes better than any bulk manufactured pie could ever hope to taste, a professionally hand crafted fishing fly makes all the difference.

Fishing flies require a highly organic look and feel that machines can’t completely replicate. People who have a passion for fishing and have been using fishing flies on a regular basis for years understand what works and what doesn’t.

Chemically Sharpened Hooks

No matter how effective the fly, if your hook doesn’t snare the fish then it’s game over. Regular hooks, shaped only by mechanical sharpening, have slight ruts and imperfections. The process is similar to sharpening a knife on a sharpening stone.

Chemical sharpening is the process of taking a mechanically sharpened hook one step further by dipping it into a specific type of acid, making the metal ultra smooth and sharp. A well crafted chemically sharpened hook can sear through flesh and rigid bones quickly, meaning fewer close calls for fish and more catches for you.

Whiting Farms Feathers

A fishing fly made from a high quality grizzle rooster cape will outperform a dyed fabricated feather time and again. Whiting Farms feathers are the absolutely highest quality in fishing fly materials and are standard among fly tying craftsman.

The difference between Whiting Farms feathers and imitations is that Whiting Farms chickens have been specifically bred since the 1960’s to achieve the precise color patterns most attractive to fish. Whiting Farms feathers keep their shape and move naturally in the water.

Environmentally controlled storage facility

A fishing fly is made up of organic feather material, glues, and metals that can be negatively affected by unfavorable storage conditions over long periods of time. Facilities that are too hot can cause glues to dry and crack. Too damp of an environment can cause the metals to tarnish.

To maintain their high quality, fishing flies must be stored in a controlled environment with adequate temperature, humidity, and air quality. Materials should be well packed to ensure that they arrive in tact with the feathers fluffed and hooks perfectly shaped.

Choosing the right fishing fly may very well make the difference in the quantity and quality of fish you catch on your next trip. Before investing in your fishing flies do some research on the craftsmanship of various companies and look for the essential elements that make an effective fishing fly.

Setting Posteriorities

August 30th, 2007

You’re probably familiar with the idea of setting priorities. You look at your list of goals or projects or tasks and sort them in order of most important to least important. Then you focus your attention on the most important ones before you tackle the less important ones. Nothing too surprising there…

But let’s say you have a new priority come into your life, and it’s one that requires a nontrivial time investment. Maybe you want to start an exercise program, and you want to devote a few hours a week to it. You don’t feel like you have any free time where you can just insert your exercise routine. The whole idea of free time is a bit silly anyway. You’re always using time for something, even if it’s purely for leisure activities or rest.

So the only way you can insert something new into your life is to delete something old. You’re already filling each 24-hour day with 24 hours of habitual actions, whether this be sleep or work or rest or even just being lazy. You can’t just stuff an extra hour in there and create a 25-hour day. (Well… I suppose you could if you have a very flexible schedule, but then you’ll lose about 2 weeks at the end of the year.)

A problem happens when you try to do this 25-hours-into-24-hours shove. That hour will have to be stolen from somewhere else. Most of the time people don’t choose where this hour will actually come from. They may assign it a time, but they won’t consciously think about what’s going to be displaced from that time slot. This can result in feeling stressed or overwhelmed for no apparent reason, which often leads to procrastination. Maybe the displaced activities were more important than you realized.

The idea of setting posteriorities means that you consciously and deliberately choose what to delete whenever you start doing something new. So if you want to add 30 minutes of exercise to each day, where will this 30 minutes come from? Will it be stolen from sleep time, family time, lazy time, fun time, thinking and reflecting time, etc.?

Ideally whenever you add a new priority to your life, you want to delete a posteriority. Just as you make a list of what’s most important to you in life, you can also make a list of what’s least important to you. Take note of what you do each day that just isn’t that important. Where can you steal time from unimportant activities to be reassigned to more important ones? Can you delete watching some TV to add some extra reading? Can you delete superfluous web surfing to add more thinking time?

Sometimes setting posteriorities is very challenging. Once you’ve achieved a nicely balanced life, and then you want to start a big new project, you may find it difficult to steal time from other activities because now everything seems important. I had this problem when I started writing my book. This is a big project, and I’m presently investing about 40 hours/week on it. That’s 40 hours I have to displace every week in order to complete this project — a huge amount of time. In the beginning I naively just tried to squeeze it into my already busy schedule without consciously deciding what 40 hours I would delete. I dropped maybe 10 hours consciously, so I was trying to squeeze 70 hours of activity into those 40 hours. Obviously that didn’t work too well. I had to consciously pick out another 30 hours to drop, and that required making some hard sacrifices. Some of it came from sleep, some from family time, but most of it came from other work activities. I had to start passing up a lot of business opportunities that I would normally have taken advantage of. I had to start saying no a lot more often. Now virtually every week I have to say no to at least two or three tempting business offers. In the short run most would be successful, but in the long run I’d never finish my book if I said yes too many times. And ultimately the book project is much more important than the sum total of all these smaller projects, as tempting as they seem.

It can take a bit of careful reflection to know what’s important to you and what isn’t. For example, suppose you’re currently working a full-time job and decide to start your own business. Many people will try to do this by starting the business in their… ahem… spare time while keeping their full-time job. And this certainly works for some people. Spare time doesn’t really exist though, so what’s being displaced? Often it’s family time, leisure time, or exercise time. So if you work on your new business an extra 2 hours a day, you’ve not only increased your total work time by 2 hours, but you’ve also reduced your recovery time by 2 hours. And this often throws life out of balance and can lead to physical and emotional overwhelm. I confess to being rather intimately familiar with this situation at times.

An alternative way of handling this situation is to steal that extra time for your new business from your existing work time. Depending on what options are available to you, you may be able to scale back your hours, switch to a part-time job, quit completely and work on your new business full-time, use accrued vacation time and sick days to take off one day each week, steal small blocks of time during your regular workday for your new business, etc. Obvious some of these options will displace some income, but for many people that is a better choice than displacing too much leisure time.

Best Exercise To Burn Fat

August 30th, 2007

What is the best exercise to burn fat? Any exercise that gets
your heart rate into your targeted heart range. If you want to
lose weight, you need to exercise hard enough to increase your
pulse rate enough to burn fat more efficiently.

The exercises that get your heart rate into your targeted heart
range will increase your metabolism and that’s what burns fat.
So if you find the best exercise to burn fat you’ll lose weight.

Losing weight has more health benefits other than just making
you look better. By losing 10-15% of your body weight you can
reduce your risk of heart attack, reduce your cholesterol level,
and get healthier overall. So how do you start?

Your first hurdle that you will need to overcome is commitment.
If you want to lose weight, then you have to commit to a good
cardio workout routine.

This means that you will have to exercise at least three to
four times a week for 30 minutes to 1 hour. If you commit to one
month of regular exercise, you will find that at the end of that
month you will have more energy, be in a better mood and you
will probably have lost a few pounds. Commitment is one of the
keys to finding the best exercise to burn fat.

Mix it up. Keep your exercise routine exciting and vary it so
you will keep interest in your workout routine. Finding an
exercise that burns fat is not that difficult.

Any exercise can burn fat if you get your heart rate in the
targeted zone. This can include running, walking, hiking,
playing basketball, spinning, interval training, or anything
else that you can think of.

Make it fun and you will enjoy it and have a much better chance
of sticking to it. Changing your routine around will help you to
stay interested and committed. Make sure that you work your
entire body for maximum results.

A full body exercise workout can include adding some weight
training into your workout. If you enjoy walking and jogging,
then you could add some weight training for your arms and
shoulders to make it more of a full body workout.

Or you could alternate running and jogging days with weight
training days. Alternating exercise is a great way to ensure
that you work your entire body.

If you can find a few exercises that you enjoy doing, then you
can alternate them to make a workout routine that you will love.
Think about what you enjoy doing and then work to create the
best exercise to burn fat for you.

Cozyin’ Up to Winter

August 30th, 2007

Doesn’t winter just make you want to light lots of candles? Me
too! Here are some more ideas to cozy up your home for winter!
Don’t have a fireplace? Make a collection of similar colored
candles along a wall-mounted wide decorative ledge…it will
feel like a mantle. Hang a piece of art above it, and you have
really created that cozy fireplace feeling.

Do have a fireplace but don’t want the hassles of burning wood?
Get that double row of candle holders that sit in the fireplace.
Being a wood fire aficionado, I was amazed the first time I lit
all of the candles at how much light they gave off and the
ambiance it added to the room. I was a candle girl from then on
and never looked back! If you group candles on a tray, remember
they’re portable…they can go to whatever room you want to
cheer up. Don’t forget the bathroom…nothing like a luxurious
soak in a tub of bubbles to the glow of candles, soft music and
your favorite “read”. (Be sure to hang the “Do Not Disturb” sign
on the bathroom door!) Nestle candles into a shallow bowl filled
with sand, rice, pebbles, faux pearls or beads. Add faux fur
pillows or a throw to your sofa…so warm to the touch! Also use
it to snuggle under by the fire or watch a TV movie. They’re
also a luxurious touch to a bedroom on the bed or a chair. You
can even use one on a chair in the entry to add a little drama
coming into your home.

Sleep on a king-size down pillow and drift off and wake up in
luxury. Add a down pad to the top of your mattress. (Anything
that creates the “B&B” feeling everyday is cozy not only for
winter but all year long!) Get the biggest, softest cotton
bathroom rug you can find…the moment your toes touch that
softness, you will think you are at a spa. Chenille rugs are
great for that feeling and now come in more colors than white
and off white. Add some small accent lights to your home. You
know the kind…soft glow, don’t take a lot of electricity but
add lots of coziness. Consider adding them to your entry,
bathroom or even kitchen island. Don’t forget those highly
decorative nightlights you can indulge in now - choose from
fancy shades with beads, feather or faux fur trims. Exchange
some of your artwork with themes that make you feel cozy in
winter. A snowy scene can take you away to another place and
time. Place decorative colored glass items (vases, bowls, etc.)
so the daylight or candlelight catches them. Try window sills,
green house windows in the kitchen, and window ledges by the
tub. As you can see, there are an endless array of ideas that
can be used to create a cozy home. If you would like a” winter
design walk-through” for additional seasonal ideas, call One Day

Improve your success potential through visiting this professional

August 30th, 2007

Choosing a therapist is a rite of passage for many. It’s a
declaration of needing the support of a professional for a
problem one cannot resolve through resources at hand. In simpler
terms, it means paying someone for their expertise to solve a
problem you have. And therapists are available to meet their
client’s needs in many areas of life. The most common type of
therapist is a psychotherapist, some with an advanced degree and
licensed in their state to assist individuals in improving their
mental and emotional health. These therapists may have
specialties in grief therapy, family therapy, group therapy, or
couples therapy - but the principles and training are the same,
and the end result is to give people more control through having
a better understanding of their life and circumstances. These
type of therapists help with acute problems such as marriage
issue or the death of a loved one, but also meet with people
over a longer term period to assist with issues like anxiety,
depression, self-esteem, or difficult relationship
circumstances. A profession that has become popular over the
last decade is that of the massage therapist. As people have
become more attuned to self-care and taking care of their body,
massage therapists have grown in demand. This is a demanding job
physically but one that nurtures many massage therapists
spiritually and relationally. And as long as the societal demand
for an improved quality of life continues, massage therapists
will play a part in this. As will physical and occupational
therapists. Also known as PTs and OTs, these professionals have
an interest in restoring physical health to individuals who have
undergone surgery or suffered an accident. All of these
therapists play a significant role in improving the quality of
life of others and derive great value from helping, whether this
is through mental, emotional, or physical means.

Free Legal Mp3 Downloads - Is It Possible ?

August 30th, 2007

Downloading free mp3 music from the internet are a great thing
to do. Mp3 downloads can give you thousands of free mp3 songs
and hundreds of hours of listening just by using your
fingertips. However, the common way to do download mp3 music is
illegal… but there is an other method.

Its a fact that companies and individuals are getting sued for
encouraging and downloading illegal music. The Recording
Industry Association of America (RIAA) and their sister
organizations in other countries have recently been passing out
large fines trying to prevent illegal mp3 downloads. A bunch of
music download networks, like Napster, Kazaa, Winmx has been
stopped, Grokster and Morpheus faces an uncertain future.

So what will the future bring ? Can I still download free mp3
music ? The answer is YES, you can still keep your mp3 players
cookin`. There are tons of websites in various sizes and shapes
that are publishing free legal mp3 music, and they are just
waiting for you to start download.

After the close down of the big file sharing networks there are
many pay sites that have licensing agreements with the
entertainment industry, such as Rhapsody, iTunes and Yahoo
Music. Unfortunately these top profile downloading sites often
charge a too big fee for their mp3 download access.

Alternatives have arisen that gives you the same amount of
content, but for free. Search the net for the free alternatives
to Rhapsody, iTunes and Yahoo Music and you will be amazed of
what you will find. The huge amount of free mp3 downloads you`ll
download will keep both your heart and your wallet happy.

A comprehensive list of websites that gives you access to free
mp3 downloads can be found at http://www.bestmp3links.com

How To Find Business Opportunities For eBay Trading Assistants

August 30th, 2007

There are a select group of sellers who are known as eBay Trading Assistants. They belong to a special program, which allows eBay sellers to offer items provided by others. For example, if you are familiar with the concept of a consignment shop, then you will understand the responsibilities of a trading assistant. A friend, family member or acquaintance may have one or more items to sell, but no computer or internet access. So, they would contact an eBay trading assistant who would offer their items for sale. Most eBay trading assistants charge a fee for their service, but it should be a reasonable one in order to provide quality service at an affordable price.

There are a number of ways to find people who are in need of an eBay trading assistant. Word of mouth, of course, is very popular as is the eBay directory listing every trading assistant and their location. But, what if you want even more business? For the serious entrepreneur, there are a few more ways to drum up some new customers.

1. Place an advertisement in the local newspaper’s classified section. It should go under the ‘Notice’ or ‘Services’ section. Because the cost of classifieds are usually determined by the number of words, keep it short while remaining informative. For example, “eBay Trading Assistant now accepting new items on consignment. Excellent reputation and reasonable rates.” Be sure to include a telephone number or e-mail address, or both, at the end of the advertisement.

2. Buy airtime on a local radio station. Record your own message or ask the DJ to create a commercial with pizzazz. Don’t worry - you should get final approval before anything is released on radio, so be sure to let them know you want to hear the commercial before it airs.

3. Post flyers in your community, on bulletin boards and anywhere else that will allow flyers to be posted. At the bottom of your flyer, print your telephone number diagonally as many times as you can. Cut strips, which will separate each telephone entry. This will allow interested parties to take a telephone number and stick it in their pocket without having to find a pen and paper to write your information down.

4. Ask local businesses and retail stores if you can leave flyers in their window or at their counters. Consumers passing through the store may have some old clothes or other collectibles that they would like to get rid of, so a store is a good place for your flyers.

5. Talk with local business owners and inquire if they have any merchandise they would like to have sold, but aren’t having any luck moving it out themselves. Tell them that you believe you can help, explain that you sell on the internet and ask if they would be interested in letting you sell their items in exchange for a small commission. Many businesses, especially the small ones, would be interested in reaching a broad international market. The appeal of the internet may be just what they need to free up inventory and bring in some extra cash.

Truth or Consequences

August 30th, 2007

I am making a trek through the Bible this year starting out
with reading a couple chapters in the Old Testament and
about 1 chapter starting with Matthew per day. It’s amazing
how many times they coincide with eachother. I just got to
thinking about the truth that God keeps telling us about. If
only we would learn to lean on this fact instead of being
stubborn and thinking we are all excempt from life
happening, our lives would start to shape up the way they
were intended.

About three and a half thousand years after the fall of man in
Genesis, a nation arises out of Exodus. The main theme
behind God’s Word is redemption. People back then are not
so different than they are today. Chapter 32 tells about the
impatience of the Israelites while Moses went up to Mt. Sinai
to get the Commandments from God. God had already done
miraculous events to prove Who He was, but after a short
while promising they would be faithful to follow all His
commands, they grew impatient. They had convinced Aaron
to make for them a golden calf in which to honor. God saw
all that was happening and was set to destroy them all, but
Moses pleaded for God to change His mind. (Ex.32:12) He
did turn from the evil which He thought about doing to them
(vs. 15)

When Moses returned with the tablets written by God,
Joshua told him there was a noise of war in the camp. (vs.
32:17) But it wasn’t a war, it was a celebration of the most
brazen kind. Moses saw that the people were singing and
dancing around the molten calf, acting like crazed maniacs.
(vs.32:19). Moses got so angry that he melted the calf and
broke the tablets from God. Since Aaron was left in charge,
Moses asked him why did he let this happen? (vs.32:21)
And like so many of us, Aaron blamed it on the people being
set on evil. He did not show any authority. We see this alot
even in the churches themselves today. There is such a
passive role among Pastors and Preachers and Teachers.
They don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings and so they preach
messages of “sin managment” instead of telling everyone
how it really is.

But God is a God of order and will not put up with
compromise in the least bit. God will bring condemnation
upon those who are as He called a “stiff-necked” people. He
gave them consequences to pay for.

“And when Moses saw that the people were unruly and
unrestrained (for Aaron had let them get out of control, so
that they were a derision and object of shame among their
enemies). Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and
said, Whoever is on the Lord’s side, let him come to me.
And all the Levites (the priestly tribe) gathered together to
him.” Ex. 32:26-27 (Amplified)

God demands order in our lives and if we don’t pay heed to
His direction, He will let us be an object of shame before
our enemies. Our church families are out of order and we
are seeing the result of this today. Why can’t we get this
right? God is a Man of His Word and He ordered for those
who were on His side to kill all the others that weren’t,
including brothers and friends and neighbors. (vs.32:27)

About 3,000 men fell that day under the sword of the Levis.
Because of their obedience, God had consecrated them
and set them apart as priests to the Lord. God could now
restore their blessings that He had already bestowed on
them through Abraham.

Moses wanted to make atonement for the evil that these
people had done, but no one except Christ can do that
today. Moses asked God to blot his name from the Book of
Life. But God spoke this; “Whoever has sinned against Me, I
will blot Him (not you) out of My Book. God still promises to
do that today. No one can save us except the blood of Christ.
We can not ride on someone else’s coat tails for
redemption.

If we know the truth, why then do we tempt it? Do we think
God doesn’t really care, that He will forgive us just because
He thinks we’re so special? Don’t be deceived by any false
doctrine being taught. There is only One Way to salvation
and that is through Jesus Christ, other than that, you’re on
your own. God can not look upon sin of any kind and unless
you are covered in the blood, God can not look upon you. He
will have no choice but to crush you into dust one day.

“And whoever falls on this Stone will be broken to pieces,
but he on whom It falls will be crushed to powder (and It will
winnow him, scattering him like dust).” Matt. 21:44

Jesus is the Stone on which we should fall. God will break
us of our human nature and reshape us into a work of pure
gold. But for the one who refuses to be broken by Him will
end up being crushed by Him when He will judge the evil
works of their hands. This is the Truth and these are the
consequences.

If you haven’t come to Christ as your Rock of Salvation yet, or
may have back slidden, it’s never too late to ask for
repentence. It’s all that God requires of you. It’s not how
badly you’ve behaved in the past. He can throw all that out in
an instant and give you a clean slate. Since we know that
Christ will return one day, we just don’t know exactly when,
why would you let another day go by without coming to Him?

God is slow to anger and shows His loving kindness to all
who come to Him for forgiveness. Perhaps He’s waiting for
you to come today?

When you fall on the Stone, you can then stand firm!
