Poker Tracker - Ace Heads up Display
I’ve been watching a lot of poker training videos. I played a satellite poker game on Full Tilt and won, but was unable to play in the tournament. This is very unfortunate, because the tourney was a $250k guarantee that could only be bought into with full tilt points (FTP’s); no cash buy in available. There were plenty of pros already registered for it, and it would have been super fun to play in.
As a consolation, I unregistered and got the 5,000 FTP’s. I pondered what I could do with the points and eventually cam to a decision. I could have used the FTP’s to try and satellite into larger events or even hang onto them for another huge prize pool event. Instead I decided to invest the points toward a month-long membership to StoxPoker.com. They have classroom exercises as well as video streams of live play and recaps of old sessions.
While watching some of the live pokersession play in these videos, the players spout out these numbers and statistics that are completely foreign to me. Above each player’s avatar is a collection of stats in different colors. These stats are compiled through a computer program that gathers data on player tendencies when you sit at a table with them. So, essentially a computer program is taking very precise notes for you so you don’t have to think at all about your opponents. This is great for multi-tabling, when you don’t have much time to watch each player’s action intently.
I found one of the main programs that use this software to be Poker Tracker. They use the Ace Heads up Display program, or Ace HUD. Very nice program!
