How to Get Your Website Linked To Blogs

August 28th, 2007

Blogs are all over the internet and gaining popularity all the
time. Just do a search for anything and see all the results
relating to blog entries. Search engines love blogs. Content is
king, and blogs can get updated on a daily basis. Also, blogs
link to other blogs, and if you have an interesting site you
will find you get lots of others linking to you. This is
something you really need to focus on.

What is the best way to go about it?

Bloggers are interested in everything. There are blogs about
every subject under the sun. If you want to get your site
noticed, search for blogs on a theme you like. Then create some
content for that theme on your site. Remember bloggers like to
‘talk’, to be seen as an expert in their field. So you could
write something controversial, that would get you noticed and
talked about.

Alternatively write some amusing content based around the theme
you have chosen. Try to put a fresh look, your own unique
criticism, anything that would get it talked about. Do a
tongue-in-cheek review, and see what effect that will have. Of
course you don’t purposely want to offend people, just get them
talking about your content and keep them interested in checking
back.

Pick themes that you are genuinely interested in. This is easier
to write content for. But also look at some topics or areas you
never bothered much about before. This can be informative and
entertaining and you could strike up a lot of friendships,
resulting in links back to your site.

The best way to do all this is from a blog of your own. Then
visit some blogs related to your own theme and post your comment
there with a link to your own site. If they are interested they
will respond. As more read and comment you will gain links from
potentially thousands of blog sites.

Your own blog will get improved rankings in the search engines.
It will get updated on a constant basis from comments. You will
get your ads and links noticed on your blog without any real
effort on your part. And you may even like blogging so much you
will create an empire of them.

It may not be to everyones taste but it is worth considering as
another tool to use in your online marketing attempts. And you
might also learn something in the process. Try it today, you
have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Blogs Often Provide Free Advise and Solutions That Other Sites Expect to Sell

August 24th, 2007

Everywhere you look online someone is trying to sell you something. Although not as prevalent as it was during the Internet boom of the late 1990’s when the “free” model applied to everything, there are still quite a few things that are free online.

It’s true that ads that pitch “free credit reports” are really hoping you’ll cough up some bucks to subscribe to their monthly reporting services, but the first report is usually free. Note that I used the word “usually” because just like my Mom once taught me to NEVER use the word “never,” the online world has also taught me to rarely use the word “always” when describing Internet offers.

That said, many items are available for free online. Some might require your contact information to get them, in which case I have a hard time classifying them as being totally free. I learned long ago that when you give out your email address online you better be prepared to receive something you don’t want in your inbox.

From free graphics to free web templates, many Internet sites still use the free business model to lure website visitors into using their products and services in hope of making routine visitors and customers out of them.

A new genre of websites is springing up online these days that focus solely on offering good content and information. They normally exist for the sole purpose of gaining free publicity or as a medium to run ads. I’m speaking of blogs and free article sites, two categories of content-only sites that are growing by leaps and bounds. Technorati.com, an excellent blog search engine, currently claims to carry content on 22.6 million blogs (i.e. online journals). Many of these are excellent sources of free information.

Most “free reprint” articles sites provide excellent information for free, only requesting that webmasters who opt to publish the article simply include details about the author. Some article publication services do an excellent job of screening articles for good content, while others will publish anything — merely running articles to capture ad revenue. But the good ones can often serve as a treasure trove of free info on the subject you’re searching for online.

When you find an information website you like, see if it publishes a free RSS feed that you can track or subscribe to. The really good ones typically offer free RSS feeds that you can subscribe to via several RSS feed services.

Blog And Ping - The Basics

August 23rd, 2007

Blogs and ping are the most frequently used words in the IT sector today. These two words are on everyone’s lips today. So why are blogs and pinging getting so much importance today? Blogs and pinging can get you very good profits in the wrong run. So what exactly are blogs and pinging?

A blog is a website where members can discuss online their views on a particular topic. There are some blogs that are general in nature where people can discuss anything and there are blogs on which you can discuss only on a particular topic. However it is advisable that when you start a blog it should not be generalized but it should be opened on a particular topic. For example instead of starting a blog on the Information Technology you can start a blog only on Microsoft Technologies. There are a lot of blog softwares that you can use on your server and then run it independently.

Blogs are increasingly used for SEO marketing. Through blogs you can advertise your internet site on the blogs. Blog and ping is a process through which you can post a snippet of information from your site to a blog to increase your SEO. When you post snippets of your website information on the blog, search engine sites like Google and Yahoo will find it more easily. The search engine will be able to track your site more easily due to spidering and indexing. You can blog and ping only very important information from your site and not all information. You can also rent links to your site which makes the work of spidering easier for search engines. There were many aggressive marketers before who used to blog and ping all their web pages and that also repeatedly. As a result the search sites termed the individuals spammers and then banned their websites from ranking.

So how is blog and ping done successfully? The tasks can be easily done with the help of softwares like Wordpress and RSS to Blog. Using these softwares you can submit your links to over 50 blog directories at a click of a button. You can download Wordpress and RSS to Blog and then install them on your computer. Once you have installed the programs on your computer you should them customize them according to your needs. Then you should create a list of links from your site that will use in the blog sites. You can do this automatically using RSS to Blog. You can save these links for future use also so that you don’t have to enter the list of links all over again. You also have the ability to add more data to RSS to Blog from external sources. The list of blog entries are automatically modified when you make more entries.

Hence we see that blog and ping are one of the best methods to make your website more famous in the search engines. You can use them and also modify their configuration according to your needs.

Superbloggers Secrets

August 5th, 2007

Blogs are extremely hot right now. Everyone is starting them, and the more successful ones are driving unprecedented amounts of traffic and cash to their owners.

Superbloggers take what they do best and increase their value by placing their business on the internet.

“The impact of the Internet on the media business will be in forcing it to become more participatory,” says Tony Perkins. Tony Perkins invented the technology business magazine when he founded Upside in 1988. With the blogging exploding on the internet, in which everyone has a voice, the next generation of media revolution is on the horizon. The proof is with the internet - bloggers participate on the media sites and that resource can be tapped into after it’s bundled up, polished and then you commercialize it.

The secret is to take what you do best as a business and expand on that theory.

Put your creative juices on the internet with a blog software ( can be found for as little as $0 and up to $150 ).

Develop your website by tapping into paying sponsors to help with your revenues and to pay a small staff to operate your website.

This can be done for under $50,000 to develop your package of your business.

Blogs As A Marketing Tool

July 14th, 2007

Blogs are the biggest things to happen to the Internet since personal home pages. Blogging software has made it easy for the average Joe to create his own blog, and the thriving community of bloggers have spurred designers to release completely free, and professionally looking templates.

However, other than being personal journals, blogs are a fantastic way to market your product or service. For example, you can create a blog about your company and the latest happenings, or what the management is doing. Or you could create a blog that showcases the development of your product, and the ways that it can improve someone’s daily life.

Using such inexpensive, low-maintenance technology to market your e-commerce site - without having to learn HTML or any of that gibberish - can create an awareness for your brand that conventional advertising can’t, and you can typically do it for less than $10 a month.

Either way, it is a site that your readers will appreciate for your honesty and the way that you put across your business/product/service. Typically blogs are a very casual medium, and are completely different from your usual corporate websites. Think of it as if you are conducting a conversation, and you will have a good idea of how a blog should be. Do not make the mistake of making your blog one big sales letter though! That will just create the opposite effect of what you want - turning off your readers and dismissing your blog instantly.

If you do it correctly, your blog will soon be improving your business’s reputation, and you will be getting more traffic over time. You will also have a great community of readers to bounce new product ideas or changes off. The more traffic you get to your blog, the more business you should be expecting. The thing about blogs is that they generate a lot of word-of-mouth recommendations, which are a great form of getting new customers, since they hear about you from a trusted source.

Before you begin blogging, you will have to make a choice of blogging software to use. There are paid service providers such as Blogware’s Blogtex, Expression Engine, or TypePad, which gives you everything from the software to the hosting service. Alternatively, you can also use free blog software such as or WordPress, which is just as powerful, and install them on your own web servers.

All about the Blogs

July 9th, 2007

First came the web, then the web log, the space was removed and it became weblog, “we” was removed and it became a blog. Sources disagree on when the term was first coined. Some say blogging first appeared in 1995, while others credit John Bayer with first using the term in 1997. Either way, blogging has become a popular pastime and blogs are a common part of the internet community. Some maintain that web logs are personal diaries or journals of individuals and blogs are topic specific sites. The term is commonly used to describe both personal diaries and topic specific sites.

Types of Blogs

In the beginning, blogs were straight text. Now most contain text and images. Topic specific blogs include everything from sports and politics to history and literature. There are photoblogs on which individuals post photographs of various things. There are photoblog discussion sites which are mostly plain text blogs where people discuss their own photoblogs and the photoblogs of others. There is photoblogging news which again consists of mostly plain text and people discuss different photoblogs that are out there and what they have to offer. Videoblogging is relatively new and is basically another form of self-_expression. There are blogs about videoblogging on which groups and individuals discuss things like the best digital video format. There are MP3 blogs which are very popular. These offer musical selections for listening and downloading pleasure.

Blog Hosting Services

MySpace is a service that allows users to use there weblog (blog) application software, either free or for a fee. MSN has a similar service. Usually basic services are free and customers pay extra for additional services. Individual users have their own web page or pages consisting of journal blogs, photos, or videos if desired as well as various background selections. Depending on a user’s knowledge of HTML text and graphics, these sites can be very simple or very complex, but all are as unique as the individuals that design them. MySpace has gotten some bad press lately because site users can browse profiles, in order to “meet” people in real life. This may be how some people choose to use the site, but is not how or why the site was designed to be used.

Why we blog

Blogging of any type is basically a form of self-_expression or idea exchange. It is not a dating service. People use them to keep in touch with their families and friends. Let everyone know what is going on in their life. They share photos from across the miles and across the years. People sometimes connect with people from other countries and sometimes reconnect with people who moved away in grade school. Yes, the sites have gotten some bad press and parental warnings, but doesn’t everything new. If memory serves, it used to be chat rooms that were full of perverts waiting for the chance to take advantage of unsuspecting innocents. Now they blame it on the blogs.

10 Tips To Drive Traffic to Your Blog

July 4th, 2007

Blogs have many advantages over normal WebPages when it comes to internet marketing. Blogs are indexed much faster, blogs can “ping” hundreds of blog and news directories, and blogs can be listed in places normal websites are not. Here are some Power Tips to get your blog rolling!

1.) If your blog is new, create at least three to five posts per day. People who visit will want something to read. Also, focus on keywords in your niche topic for “natural” search engine optimization.

2.) Add your blog to your My Yahoo! page. If you haven’t setup a My Yahoo yet, just go to yahoo.com and click on the My Yahoo! icon near the top right. After your setup, go to your My Yahoo page and click on the “add content” button found near the upper right. You will be presented with a form to enter your RSS link. You will enter something like this “http://yourdomain.com/blog/?feed=rss2″. When you submit your own RSS to My Yahoo it is indexed by Yahoo.

3.) Add your blog to your Google’s Reader. When you submit your own blog RSS to Google’s Reader the Google Blog Search will index your site. To do this, goto google.com, click on the “personalize home” or “my account” button in the upper left. After you account is setup, sign in and click on the “add content” button in the upper left of your page.

4.) Add a link directory to your blog and trade links with sites that share a similar niche. At this point, you want to trade links mainly to get direct traffic. In the long term, this will help with your rankings in the search engines as well. Do a search like “add url” or “add link” in your favorit search engine to find potential link partners.

5.) Use ping sites like http://pingomatic.com Ping your site every time you add a new post. Check to see if your blog software is already doing this. Wordpress and B2Evolution do this automatically and is a real time saver.

6.) Submit your blog to traditional search engines such as Google, AltaVista, and MSN.

7.) Submit your blog to traditional directories such as DMOZ.com Directories (particularly DMOZ) increase relevance with Google. DMOZ is very picky and can sometimes take months to get listed.

8.) Submit to as many RSS Directories as possible. There are over 150 listed at http://www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55/. This is a simple but repetitive process that can be done automatically with RSS submission software.

9.) Comment on other blogs and forums. Do not just leave short, lazy comments like “I agree.” Try to really answer questions or give opinions on subjects you know. How long your post will be depends on you. Generally, five to ten sentences is enough to explain yourself on someone else’s blog or forum. Most forums require you to register, so include a link to your blog in your profile and/or in your signature file. But be tactful about it; some forums get annoyed with those who selfishly drop a few links to their own site and leave. Find a relevant group on Google groups, Yahoo groups, MSN groups or any of the thousands of other FREE group services and find like minded people and talk with them. Make sure your use your blog URL like it is your name.

10.) Use track backs. If there is a blog that you refer to or quote and it is highly relevant to your subject, leave a track back. It increases your link popularity and may even score a few interested readers from the linked site. A TrackBack is a mechanism used in a blog to show, around an entry, a list of other blogs that refer to it.

Although these are some of the most popular ways to drive traffic to your blog, do not limit your self to tips and lists. Use your imagination and you will come up with thousands of ways to drive traffic to your blog!

What the Heck is a Blog?

July 1st, 2007

Everybody is talking about blogs. They are everywhere: on the TV, in the newspapers, and all over the internet. With the number of blogs doubling every five months, there is no stopping the power of blogs.

But what the heck is a blog? For the elegant simplicity and beauty that blogs create, they certainly have an ugly, ungainly name. Blawg sounds like some kind of gurgling sound your cat makes before coughing up a hairball.

A blog, short for weblog, is often described as an online diary. The most recent entries (called posts) - appear on the homepage of the blog with links to archives of older posts. Archives are organized by date and often categorized by topic. Often, each post will have a form for readers to add their own comments and to give their opinion or reaction to the post’s content.

But that’s just what a blog looks like - it doesn’t really tell you why a blog is different from a conventional website. The real genius in blogs appears in the process of how they are written.

You can update your blog instantly from any internet connection on any computer anywhere in the world - even from your summer home in Tahiti (as you sip an ice-cold island cocktail). Blogs are designed for people who don’t want to learn (or don’t have the time to learn) HTML or web design. You use a special type of blogging software (called a blog tool) to create and update your weblog. You type your latest post into a simple online form. You click “Publish” and it is instantly available online for the whole world to see. It’s super-easy. If you can send an email, you can publish a weblog. So my updated description of a weblog is:

A blog is an easy, instantly and frequently updated website, focused around a topic, industry or personality.

One big reason businesses (especially small businesses and entrepeneurs) flock to blogs is because they reduce dependency on a web design team to get ideas and announcements online. Developing a website for your business can take weeks, sometimes months, from shopping for a designer and doing project negotiation
phase to getting the final site launched. Developing a website can be not only costly, but time consuming.

Many of my clients have found blogs a great way to start out online while they are building their business with the eventual goal to move towards a more robust web design solution. Others have moved all of their web sites into a blog format and have vowed to never look back.

You can create a blog and have a website in less than fifteen minutes, for less than $10, with hosting and software included - and, all without having to know anything about web design. With a blog there’s ten thousand less decisions to make.

Blogging is the fastest, cheapest, easiest way to build a website in the time it takes to watch a sitcom.
