This is a customised email sent to buyers at the end of each
auction giving them details of how to pay and allowing you to

have to pay including P&P

Cheap Cigarettes, Discount Tobacco and Cigars Online - Is It Legal?

October 17th, 2007

Many people online today still believe that buying tobacco products via the Internet is an experience that is doomed to failure. Either, the package will go astray, or the HM Customs and Excise storm troopers will smash down the door and abseil from the roof to collect the pennies that they are allegedly due for “tax evasion”.

That may on the face of it seem silly to some of you guys out there, but let us
consider the propaganda issued by the UK Government before we find this amusing.

I’m a smoker myself and the prices that we are expected to pay in the United
Kingdom are outrageous to say the least. As far as this Government are concerned
we can just do as we are told and pay up!! I don’t think that’s right, it’s time for a
change.

I first started buying Cigarettes on-line some 5 years ago and it’s not been a
smooth ride by any means. It was difficult to find a good supplier, HM Customs &
Excise had something to say, and sent a bill for every sleeve I managed to get! Until,
I realized that it wasn’t me that was doing something wrong. It was our duly elected
Government that was acting outside the law. Now I’m left very much alone to get on
with it and make the savings that I’m entitled to make as a citizen of the European
Union.

These savings do not only apply to me, it’s your right to make the choice and start
saving money online today!

I came across a website that clearly states the law as far as buying cigarettes, cigars
and tobacco via the Internet goes and it opened my eyes as to how much I’d been
missing out on. The website www.discountcigarettesuk.com is an online
Tobacconist that delivers direct to your door in the UK. Their cheap, reliable,
informative with a delivery time of between 3 and 5 days direct to your door. You
can’t get better than that. I’ve never lost an order.

As I’m writing this it’s beginning to appear like an advert for Discount Cigarettes UK
but It’s not really. As a smoker without money to throw away I feel like I’m getting a
quality service and knowing that many of you guys out there are in the same
position as me then It’s my duty as a web user to share this information with every
UK resident that will want to save their hard earned cash, now and in the future.

Declan Keane is an unhappy member of the UK community. He is not an author or
affiliated to any web site nor promoting Discount Cigarettes UK. He can be contacted

The Secret Science Of Online Shopping

October 16th, 2007

In theory you could create a retail web site with a limitless selection; an online store where every kind of merchandise known to man could be sold. Would people be interested in buying from such a huge enterprise?

Why do people buy online?

Location: You can shop online from almost anywhere as long as you have access to a power supply and a telephone connection. You can shop in the comfort of your own home or you can shop in your office. You can even shop while on the move, if you have a laptop connected to a mobile telephone.

Convenience: You can visit a web site almost whenever you want, you can browse through it at your own pace and you can make a purchase at any time of day or night. The internet makes it possible to shop 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Information: The internet makes limitless amounts of product information available to the online shopper. You can access product specifications, brochures, product comparisons and all manner of other information with just a few clicks. You no longer have to wait for a brochure or a catalogue to come to you.

How do people shop online?

What are the factors that determine the buying decision?

Just like in the real world where shops are built of bricks and mortar, the online store needs to welcome the shopper and make them feel comfortable and safe.

Once a shopper arrives at your web site they need a little time and space to familiarise themselves before being bombarded with information or choices. If you put too much information on your home page then the average shopper will miss a large proportion of your content. Likewise, if you present too many choices you will overwhelm the shopper and it is very likely that they will leave straight away.

The purpose of your home page should be to simply tell the shopper where they are and to ensure that the general layout of your online store is easy to understand. Your customers need to know if they are in a vast warehouse or a small boutique! They need to know where the entrances to each department or section are located; their question is often quite simple how do I find what I’m looking for?

Your web site should be attractively designed, with enough white space to make your content readable. You should choose a web friendly font in a size that is large enough to be read on an average monitor.

Navigation is critical. Your web site’s navigation should be obvious; it should be laid out in a simple and logical way. Your customer should be able to navigate within your web site by using the navigation buttons and links that you provide without having to use the browser back button. Shoppers should be able to navigate inside your web site without leaving.

Consider how you could make the online shopping experience fun and interesting. The technology is now available to provide live customer support; you can now guide and advice shoppers as they browse your online store. You can add sound to welcome people to your store or to add an audio description to your products. You can demonstrate your products in action using video technology.

It never ceases to amaze me just how many web sites simply don’t work. Broken links, missing images, badly installed scripts. Payment processing that is incorrectly configured; too many clicks to get from the product to the checkout; forms that require too much mandatory information. The list of problems is endless.

Here is a simple checklist for a successful web site:

  1. Make it easy for your customer to find what they are looking for with a minimum number of clicks.

  2. Provide accurate and full product descriptions. Ensure that your images are of good quality and that they show your product in the best possible light.

  3. Make sure that your products are competitively priced and that you clearly state the total cost of purchase including taxes and shipping costs where appropriate.

  4. Make it easy for your customer to complete their order and to process their payment. Provide payment options where possible. Ensure that your payment process is secure.

  5. Be responsive with your support. Shoppers are looking for a speedy answer. If you don’t provide it, then your competitors will. Provide online help or an Autoresponder. Keep your promises.

  6. Deliver your product on time and meet, or exceed, your customer’s expectations. If you demonstrate a reliable and quality product delivery you will get repeat business.

  7. Follow up. If there is going to be a delay, let your customer know. Don’t just make the sale and then ignore your customer, keep in touch with a polite follow up message or special offer.

There are a number of very important factors missing from the online shopping experience. People can’t smell the freshness or the perfume of your product. People can’t touch your product and they can’t feel the quality or the texture. You must compensate for these gaps by making the online shopping experience for your customers the best it can be.

It is vital that you test and track your visitors’ behaviour and try to improve the experience through careful analysis of your testing and tracking results. You have visitors arriving. Now is the time to take action!

Three Steps To Customer Loyalty

October 6th, 2007

As a prime source for repeat business and referrals, your relationships with customers have to be given top priority. After the sale is made is when you can really strengthen the connectivity with your client. This is the time where you can develop unshakable customer loyalty.

Loyalty is having a client that sticks with you, even when your competitors come knocking, because your relationship is so strong. That kind of loyalty will weather all kinds of competitive attacks, even better pricing offers, because your clients are buying you and the value you bring to the table.

There are several steps to developing this kind of loyalty. First and foremost, you have to deliver what you promise and more with your product or service. You know the saying, “underpromise and overdeliver.” Most salespeople do the opposite, so they are immediately in a negative position with their clients. Is it any wonder that they are quickly moving on to the next sales transaction and not looking back?

Second, you have to stay connected to the delivery or implementation of your product or service. Even if you hand off the client to your operations or customer service department after the sale is made, you want to stay connected and involved at some level. At the very least, your client needs to know that you are his advocate and that you will be there as needed for any questions or issues that can’t be handled through the proper channels.

Third, you have to keep the channels of communication open. No relationship will flourish and mature without open and honest communication. Solicit feedback long after the sale is made. Ask questions about your product or service and its uses and benefits to your clients as they are using it. In addition, make sure the communication between your clients and yourself is consistent and ongoing. How often and in what form depends on your business and the type of clients you have. The point is that you should make deliberate decisions on how often you connect and how.

A good practice is to develop systems around staying connected. In other words, don’t leave it to chance or try to wing it. If you do, things will likely fall through the cracks. Using CRM (customer relationship management) software can help you manage your relationships better. Anytime you can automate the process, the easier you will make it on yourself. In fact, a recent survey of 1,337 companies by Jim Dickie and Barry Trailer found that the right CRM system that was properly implemented increased cross-selling/up-selling by 102% while decreasing the cost of the sale by 31%.

Starting a drop shipping business in the computer industry

September 18th, 2007

Creating a drop shipping business is not that difficult.

If you understand the basics of running a business, drop
shipping is only a hop, skip & a jump away. However, the
computer industry can be very competitive. Thats why its good to
offer a lot of value added type accessories, such as “computer
cables”. There isn’t a lot of mark up in computers, but
typically there is a little extra margin in the accessories.
Printers, peripherals, cables, etc.

The first step to drop shipping, is to establish a vendor.
www.TCAcables.com is a wholesaler of computer cables. Once
you’ve found your source, establish your price basis and figure
out which products from your source you want to carry yourself.
Maybe only a few, or maybe all.

The second step would be to create a catalog. If you are
focusing your efforts online, your catalog may be a website. Or,
many of the online template sites offer a ’store’ type option.
eBay is one of those who offers a store. This is a great way to
create an online catalog for your computer cables and
accessories.

Now, find your customers. If through eBay, that can be an entire
discussion in itself. But find your niche. Be it online
advertising or offline, go find your customers.

After you’ve earned your sale, the processing part is easy.
Simply process the order on your end, then send a purchase order
(or PO #) to your source. Be sure to include the address for
your customer, with instructions to “Blind Drop Ship”. The
“Blind” part, means that you want your source to make the
shipment look as though it came from you. They can include your
invoice, promotional papers, packaging tape, and even put your
return address on the shipping info.

And there you go, you just drop shipped your first order. Of
course the marketing materials you will have to provide to your
drop shipper. Not all wholesalers will go that far, although
volume business helps. If you do decide to drop ship in the
computer industry, be sure to go after those value-added items
to gain extra profit wherever possible. Mouse pads, keyboards,
computer cables, and more.

Poker Affiliates: Choose the Right Online Poker Room Programs to Promote

September 8th, 2007

Potential affiliates in the market of online poker can even afford the luxury of being picky about who they choose to represent. Almost every site offers people the chance to become an affiliate of theirs, simply because the ultimate rewards of this cheap but effective form of advertising can be so great. As a result of this not only have the online bonuses for new customers increased, so have the fringe benefits for sites who bring them to the poker room. As with all Internet businesses the market of online poker is highly competitive, as such it is the duty of websites and their owners to make sure they are being represented by the best deal and in turn not misrepresenting their visitors.

Depending on the overall goal of your website, you may choose to incorporate a lot of advertisements or just a select few. For websites looking to maximise their profits whilst not really offering much in the way of useful information, adverts probably provide the primary content. Therefore they may wish to include dozens of adverts from a number of sites, in order to boost the chances of successfully drawing in customers. But in order to truly maximise profits these sites may tend to favour more profitable offers and popular sites. Big sites, with more kudos may be more recognisable to even the most inexperienced of online gamers. Whilst sites who offer huge incentives to affiliates can also get extra brownie points, by offering a higher percentage of players profits.

Smaller sites may wish to limit adverts and affiliated sites because they are not solely dedicated to the opportunities and gains of affiliate programs. If you have a serious site, by which I mean one that was created without making money through affiliates in mind, the idea of clogging up precious space with advertisements may not be quite so tempting. Flashing adverts often detract from the site as a whole, so if you are trying to portray a message or give information advertising is not always the best thing. As an accompaniment or background item it can be a non-intrusive potential money-maker.

There are good deals to be had, which will guarantee more money or a higher lifetime percentage. Shop around the various sites and evaluate the offers, there are hundreds to pick from so why jump in hastily and choose the first one you see? Of course the differences are pretty negligible if you cannot attract anyone to your site. But if you get the marketing and affiliates right, then it is best to do the footwork before hand and not regret it afterwards. Remember that as an affiliate is your job to make money for yourself and the site, so why sell yourself short?

A Shovel Only Has One Gear

September 3rd, 2007

Copyright 2006 Donovan Baldwin

My wife really gets the credit for the title.

Here’s how it happened.

Years ago, she and I were both truck driving instructors for a
major national carrier at their Dallas training facility. Every
week, we got a new batch of about 30 people to train, most of
whom had never driven a truck (that’s a big truck, semi,
tractor-trailer). Our trucks had 10 forward gears spread between
two ranges, had to be double-clutched (if you don’t know, don’t
ask - it takes too long to explain), and all shifting had to be
done at specific engine RPM’s. Upshifting was a different
technique from downshifting, and we threw in tricks of the trade
such as skip-shifting, speed-shifting, and rolling into second
(don’t ask, I told you).

Needless to say, many of our students, most of whom were bright
and willing to learn, had difficulty learning the shifting
techniques. My wife ran a tutor room at night at the motel where
the students stayed, and students could come and ask questions
about almost anything to do with the course, including shifting.
It was a popular place. So popular in fact, that one night she
tutored a guy for half an hour before she realized he was
training with another company! We’ll save the story about the
night the Dallas SWAT team had a shootout there for another
time, but just for the record, yes, she did throw a full grown
man to the floor.

Anyway, one night a student kept complaining about how hard it
was to learn to shift all those gears. She sympathized with him
for a while, and gave him some tips and pointers, but he just
wouldn’t shut up! She politely responded for a little longer,
but finally her patience snapped, and she uttered those fateful
words,

“Well! A shovel only has ONE gear.”

I said that most of the students were willing to do whatever it
took to learn everything we threw at them, because they realized
what the rewards would be. Without dwelling on the trucking
industry too long, they had the chance to earn over $30,000 in
their first year, and after that, they could double or even
triple their income if they handled it right. For people with no
formal training in other fields, or with only experience in
areas where income potential was limited, this was the way up,
and my wife and I got to help a lot of these people get their
start.

However difficult the training was, the reward was usually worth
the effort to most of the people we trained. We saw our share of
the others as well. The ones like the guy who was actually
asking why the company didn’t buy trucks that were easier to
shift, when my wife shot him down.

I’ve been in and out of network marketing since 1994, and
regularly active in internet marketing since about 1999, and I
have seen my share of people who wanted the program to be
easy…to do the work for them. Just a few weeks ago, in fact, I
got an email from a gentleman asking about a business
opportunity I was involved with. He wanted to know what kind of
income he could expect the business to “earn him”. He even went
so far to say that if he couldn’t be told how much to expect to
earn and how soon he would begin earning enough to replace his
current income, he would consider the business to be a scam.

The earnings anybody can expect to realize from any internet or
network marketing endeavor, and quite often the average job,
will depend on a lot of things, including how much effort
someone is going to put into their new business or position, and
how long they intend to expend that effort. As a matter of fact,
if I had to pinpoint one major factor of success for most
network or internet marketers, I would just have to say such
seemingly simple things as, “Stick with it no matter what.”
“Don’t give up.” “Try, try again.”

Honestly, if the business, product, or program is good, and if
there is a market for it, sustained effort on your part, not
only in selling the product or program, but in learning about
the benefits of the product or program to the customer as well,
will be one of the deciding factors in the success or failure of
your venture.

I very often mention two friends of mine who became millionaires
simply by handing out a brochure to everyone they met or came in
contact with for three years. They never sold anybody anything!
Or I can use myself as an example. Even today, although I make a
very good living on the internet, I am not a salesman, and have
only what I consider to be a basic skill at internet marketing.
However, I also have dozens of websites, most of which are
simple as simple can be, that I built (after teaching myself
html) and promoted regularly for almost three years before I
began receiving regular income from the internet. As I have
continued to build more and more informational sites, I have
made more and more sales of more and more products, and my
income has grown.

It’s probably never going to be completely easy, but if you are
willing to study, to learn, to practice, and to make the
required effort and not give up, someday you will succeed.

Why is it Impossible for YOU to Make Money Online? You Won’t Believe This…

September 2nd, 2007

It is a proven fact that the majority of websites that pump up never make a single dime.

While stats have proven that there’s a million dollar industry existing online.

It is simple, those who fail profiting from their internet business fail to educate themselves with the required knowledge needed to make real money online.

After researching 100s of newbies, here are some possible points I believe, that leads to complete failure of a newbie.

Check this out…

1. There are many that approach internet as a ‘get rich quick’ machine. They keep on hunting for that HOT button that can make them millions overnight.

2. They keep on reading 100s of internet marketing ebooks, falling a victim of information overload. The worst part is, they never get started.

3. They fail to pick up their BUTTS and do something to get started, instead keep on thinking… Can I do it ??

4. They keep on jumping from one business opportunity to another. Rather than stick to one and make it profitable.

5. They lack patience, passion, determination and a killer desire to succeed.

They want instant results without putting in any creative efforts.

6. They lack technical skills. They get discouraged with this fact, rather than educating themselves with some basic technical skills like designing a site.

7. There are many who never take their internet business seriously.

They are not willing to invest even $100 in advertising their website, educating themselves or expanding their business.

8. They fail to apply important business building steps and wonder why they aren’t making any money.

For instance, when I tell my customers to create their own copy or design killer graphics to increase their website conversion, there are few that respond back saying it is difficult and out of their reach.

9. They fail to realize that building a profitable internet business requires hard work as well as smart work.

Just throwing up a website and expecting to make millions is NOT how this ebiz game works.

You need real patience, right information and know-how to succeed on the net.

10. And the worst part is, they aren’t persistent. Just stick to your business no matter what happens is the secret to success.

You might be seeing yourself sitting on the above points with mere frustration and disappointment.

If yes, think over it, improve on it and move on.

How to install and run phpAdsNew

August 31st, 2007

What is phpAdsNew? It is great script written in PHP which can be used to manage different ad campaigns on your website. PhpAdsNew supports banners of any size (including flash banners), pop-ups, text ads and many different types of rich media ads. Using this script you can manage third party ads, e.g. ads from banner exchanges. And the good message is that this script is free.

How to install phpAdsNew?

First, ensure that your web hosting provider offers PHP support (PHP 4.0.4 or higher) and MySQL database (3.23.3 or higher). Then download the zip or tgz package and unzip it to your hard drive. You can use WinZip or Total Commander to do this. Now upload the files to your web host. Change the permissions of the config.inc.php file using “chmod a+w config.inc.php”. Create new MySQL database with any name, e.g. phpadsnew (or use existing database). Now you are able to run the installer. Point your browser to http://www.yourdomain.com/phpadsnew (or another folder where you copied the files). Follow the instruction on the screen and finish the installation process.

Another and easier solution how to install this PHP script is to sign up for a quality web hosting service which offers pre-installed PHP scripts. Then easily go to your control panel, find the section with pre-installed scripts and select phpAdsNew. The installer will do all the job for you. All you need to do is to choose the script you want to install.

How to run phpAdsNew?

Go to admin interface and create at least one zone. Zone is the place on your website where the ads will be displayed (e.g. top banner on the home page can be zone 1, bottom banner on the section page zone 2 etc.). Then create a new client. When you’re done, create new campaign for this client. You can set up the zone(s), limit of banner / text ads / rich media… impressions, when the campaign will start and finish, the frequency at which the ad will be shown and many other options.

Ok, we have some campaigns now and they are sucessfully running. But every advertiser wants to check the results of his campaign. From this reason phpAdsNew has very detailed stats section. Your advertisers (or you if you use this script to manage your own ads) will be able to see how many times was particular ad viewed by the website visitors and click through rate (how many % of visitors clicked the ads). In addition, you can watch weekly and daily stats. Stats can be exported to *.csv file (data from *.csv files can be opened by software like MS Excel on your computer).

I hope you will find these information helpful when you will start using phpAdsNew. If you will need some advanced functions I suggest to open phpAdsNew/misc/documentation folder where are stored three *.pdf files with very detailed description of this script. The first one, administrator-guide.pdf, will help you with the installation process and configuration. Developer-guide.pdf is for advanced users with PHP knowledge. The most important file is user-guide.pdf which will provide you by all the functions. Btw. this file has 109 pages. Good luck!

Bedrich Omacka is marketing manager of Marble Host, a company providing quality web hosting with preinstalled PHP scripts including phpAdsNew.
