Land Your Pot Of Gold

May 30th, 2008

You may manage to cleverly invest, acquire a wonderful home and a lavish lifestyle and still not feel as if you have found your pot-of-gold. You may still feel “wanting.” We live in one of the richest countries in the world, but the overall level of happiness here is lower than in many poorer countries. So, the question is, if money can’t buy happiness, what can?

Great wealth, personal success, and even fame is a lot of times a smoke screen and cover up what a person is really desiring. What they desire has substance and depth to it. Underneath it all, at their core they really desire attributes like joy, a sense of aliveness, peace of mind, happiness, connection, and fulfillment.

A Fulfilling Life is:

Special to You - What creates a fulfilling life for one person, isn’t necessarily the right combination for you. The essential ingredients are related but how it is unveiled varies with each person. Embrace who you are and revel in the significance and value you and all you represent bring to this world!

A Medley - Fulfillment isn’t just a by-product of those front page or news worthy experiences in life. The “every day” life occurrences contribute substantially to fulfillment. Here are some examples: being in the fastest checkout lane at the grocery store, finding no line at the post office, finding a “great” parking place even though the mall parking lot is packed with cars of holiday shoppers, and on and on.

All-Embracing - Fulfillment includes every area of our life. And whether we like it or not, each area of our life influences all the others, sometimes markedly and sometimes subtly. If you are not beaming from ear to ear about one or more areas of your life, just be open and receptive for your life to fine tune itself into that which is in your highest and best interest, and it will! With not a lot of planning (or concern) on your part your life will naturally evolve so your puzzle parts are in perfect alignment with each other. And the best part is; all areas will continue to adjust themselves, so your best possible life is available to you at any given time.

Ever-Evolving - What is fulfilling today, may not be fulfilling down the road. Fulfillment is not fixed; it is constantly adapting with our ever- changing life.

Can you stop the stars from coming out each night or the sun from shining brightly on a cloudless day? No, and so it is with the changes that naturally occur in our lives. When we release resistance, we have to change we are automatically carried along in the flow of life with grace and ease, allowing us to be available for all that life has to offer.

Fulfillment can never be gotten from anything we recall from the past, or something we look forward to in the future. Genuine fulfillment is experienced in the present moment, all of your senses are employed and you are filled with satisfaction and pleasure (the stuff that puts a smile on your face). And you know that; Ah hh, this is a great moment. It’s knowing that whatever is going on right now is perfect.

Once you get familiar with these moments, you cannot go back to what was (nor do you want to). An awareness is formed; you get plugged in. You start to experience more and more of these moving and powerful moments until your entire life becomes a truly fulfilling experience.

Here’s one for the road. When you treat yourself as you would someone you really love you’ll experience a level of satisfaction and fulfillment that’s otherwise unavailable. No one knows as much about you as you do. When you need a lift, rely on the world’s expert on you. If you haven’t yet appreciated yourself today, now would be a good time for it. If you have, appreciate yourself for having appreciated yourself. Ah hh, doesn’t that feel good!

An Extraordinary Person

April 10th, 2008

I am not going to tell you the story of an extraordinary person, who did remarkable things in life. Why should I? Are you not an extraordinary person? What do you think about yourself? You possess all the assets of an extraordinary person but, unfortunately, you are not an extraordinary person because you don’t think so.

Your low belief level about your own capabilities is blocking your way in achieving extraordinary success in life. Your Creator gave you the equal opportunity of becoming an extraordinary person in your own individual manner. He equipped your body with the same tools and gadgets as he equipped the body of any other extraordinary person. No extraordinary organ has been implanted by God in the bodies of those people who are living or have lived an extraordinary life.

You must be working hard to maintain a reasonable standard of life for yourself and your family. Is it enough? Can you become an extraordinary person just by doing 9 to 5 jobs? Absolutely not! Don’t walk on the off-beaten tracks paved for the ordinary people. Don’t follow the crowd and don’t copy others. You are not an ordinary person.

There is an extraordinary person within you. Give that person a chance to lead you. The more you seek guidance from your inner-self, the more you feel confident about your capabilities as an extraordinary person.

Being an extraordinary person, with a strong belief level, you can go to the peak of success, beyond any person’s imagination. Raise up your arms in the air, smile and let the world praise you as an extraordinary person.

Do you need any extraordinary skills to become an extraordinary person? Not necessarily! A little guidance from your inner-self and the wise management of your time is all that you need to bring a positive revolution in your life. But most importantly, you must enhance your belief level to become an extraordinary person.

Are you an extraordinary person? Still undecided!

Inside Secrets On How To Stay Afloat During Tough Times

March 2nd, 2008

Do you find yourself asking questions when tough times come like, ‘Why has this come my way?’ or ‘What did I do to deserve it?’ It has sometimes crossed my mind, ‘Why me?’ when I’m faced with what seemed like an insurmountable problem.

Never allow negative thoughts to rule when you have the temptation to quit!

I have learnt not to dwell on negative thoughts when I am tempted to quit. God knows that the battle for success is first won in the mind. In his instruction book, the Bible, he tells us how to overcome - ‘Fix our thoughts on what is true and good and right.’

1. The truth is, there is hope

In the first chapter of the Bible we read how God created the world and said, ‘It was good’. The world was perfect when God created it. He then created man and woman and gave them free will. Our choices brought sin into the world. The perfect world he created was ruined and we now suffer from the effects of rebellion, selfishness and pride.

God didn’t abandon us to our choices. He sent his Son, Jesus, to this imperfect world to rescue us and give us hope of a better future. No matter what problems you are facing there is always hope. We all hurt. We all make mistakes. That’s life. It’s a journey. God wants to help us in our journey. God either helps us by removing our mountain or giving us the courage and strength to climb the mountain.

2. The truth is, Jesus understands our struggles

When we don’t know what to do next, we can pray. Why pray? We pray because Jesus understands our suffering and he has told us to ask for his help. He said while on earth, ‘Come to Me all who are heavy burdened.’ God tells us that He can be ‘our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble.’ He suffered greatly during his time on earth. You can talk to him because he cares about you and knows what you are going through. He knew physical suffering, rejection, betrayal, hunger, cold and sadness. He wept and even questioned God. The Bible describes him as a ‘man of sorrows acquainted with grief.’

Never doubt in the dark what you have learnt in the light.
In a run-down Ethiopian hospital, two days journey from were we were working, I underwent exploratory surgery and was diagnosed with a large ulcer in the bladder. According to the doctor, who had seen several ulcers in the bladder in Asia, there was no known cure. Remembering to never doubt in the dark what you have learnt in the light, I turned to one of my favorite verses. ‘Who is among you who…walks in darkness and deep trouble and has no shining splendor in his heart? Let him rely on, trust and be confident in the name of the Lord, and let him lean upon and be supported by his God.’ (Isaiah 50:10)

What does it mean to trust or rely on God? Trusting in God is believing that he is big enough to bring good out of what is happening. It’s when we wake up in the morning and say, “God, I know you love me and answer prayer, so I thank you for answering my prayer today.” Bill and I called on the name of the Lord to heal me. Three months later I was reassessed and there was no sign of the ulcer!

Never give into temptation
Life can be cruel and when we are down we often get beaten the most. We are most vulnerable when going through difficult times. To help you make wise choices, talk over decisions with someone in whom you have confidence. Had someone given us that advice years ago while under pressure, we would not have made an unwise financial choice.

It’s a choice to try to see the good in our situation, a choice to trust God even when we don’t understand what’s happening or why, a choice to respond to Him and not harden our hearts, put up walls and defend ourselves when we are tempted to do just that. It means relying on Him for direction, when we get it, obeying Him and continuing to trust that He knows best.

As we have discovered, staying afloat through hard times is a choice we make, actually a series of choices as we go through our day. The solution to our particular situation may not come in the way we expect. The tough times you are facing may be leading you to what might be your most important choice. A right relationship with God may be the ultimate answer to many of the problems you face. Would you like to have a relationship with a powerful God who loves you and wants to help you?

Once in a Lifetime

February 17th, 2008

A subscriber recently wrote to me and asked me to consider this common phrase - Once in a lifetime.

“Isn’t every moment of our lives, once in a lifetime?” he asked.
Touché! Indeed, he is correct. Every moment of our lives is the last chance we get to live that moment.

What happens though is that we figure we will be able to live another moment in the same way we are passing on right now. Time becomes a commodity that we trade… and the riskiest commodity of all - futures! We pass on this moment for the option to live it in the future.

The problem is that there is no guarantee of the future…

Take some time this week to think about the Once in a Lifetime opportunities you are passing up each day:

The opportunity to play with your children or grandchildren.

The opportunity to love your spouse.

The opportunity to take that business risk.

The opportunity to take that dream trip you have thought of for years.

Live for today my friends. Make today the best day that you can. Be aware of every moment and how it is the last time you will be able to make the decision on how to spend it.

Today is your once in a lifetime opportunity to live your dreams, love your family, and make a difference. As the marketing profession would put it:

Don’t miss this Once in a Lifetime Opportunity!

Comfort and Achievement

February 15th, 2008

I’ll share with you one of my deepest insights about achievement comfort and the desire to control even the slightest bump in the great ride we have come to call Life.

When someone asks me a question I try to avoid giving them a straight answer because I believe an answer can only complicate things, I find that the best way to help them is to pose a better question. You see an answer has a certain finality whereas a question can open new possibilities. I find that people need something certain and finite to grab onto, some believe that this can define their inner being provide happiness and wellbeing for the rest of their life. A great example is science, science is a way of giving answers right? WRONG, no scientist in the world has found an answer, but the greatest scientists have found great questions! Questions that gave us a better understanding about the world around us. Can you remember when you where young and the world seemed so exciting, how every color and every smell had an identity of its own? You didn’t know that “red” was red but it certainly made you feel in a way that no one else could or can possibly understand.

We all evolved to the person we are today due to our keen sense of curiosity. I don’t know about you but every time I asked the same question to different people I got a different answer, the people that gave me the answers didn’t evolve nearly as I did, my guess is that this same thing happened to you too.

As we grow older and older we rarely make any questions and subsequently our evolution rate declines. We become self absorbed and goal oriented, we feed our pompous ego with “achievements” that don’t feel quite right but we do them anyway because they make us seem important and give us comfort and ease. With that stated, I’m not surprised that I rarely see a truly happy man. We have made happiness into achievement, which is tragic. You can’t achieve something that you have always had but you have been trained systematically not to see.

You reach to the top and you realize that it isn’t the status that matters but what brought you there, are you proud about the things you did to get there, did you enjoy the ride? I’m not talking about ethics but about essence, it is really sad to realize you have wasted your life to achieve something that you never longed for just to gain approval or comfort or status or wealth. Everything is right if done for the right reasons but something “right” can be wrong if done for the wrong reasons.

Now I have a question to you, which path is the one that will give you fulfillment satisfaction, will help you evolve and when you look back in time will make you feel proud and good about yourself?

The Challenge To Succeed

January 6th, 2008

So much has been written about success that one often gets confused about what success is all about. Success is such a personal thing that it may mean different things to different people. Yet we need to have a simple definition which should apply to all successful people and situations. The ultimate purpose of being successful is to take pride in one’s achievements and be happy; and I think one of the best description has been put forward by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

“To laugh often and much;

To win the respect of intelligent people

and the affection of children;

To earn the appreciation of honest critics

and endure the betrayal of false friends

To appreciate beauty;

To find the best in others;

To leave the world a bit better, whether by

a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;

To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived;

This is to have succeeded.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Here is the simplicity with which such a complex subject like success has been explained . If we just analyze every line we would realize that each aspect adds up to a value leading up to a successful life.

And this is the challenge of success. To have such values as to ‘laugh often’ or ‘to find the best in others’ is being successful. So simple yet when we look at ourselves and all around us we will find very few people laughing often or appreciating beauty.

The other day I met a young person working for a social organization on lowly wages hardly eking out a decent living. But what I found amazing was he talked very positively and with love to everyone he met, and he met a lot of people on our short walk. There was no bitterness in him because of his economic status nor any disgust for his work which paid him low wages. He did his work with great love. When I praised him for his positive and sunny nature he was thrilled and became a great friend though we had just met an hour back and went out of the way to help me with my assignment.

It is often the most difficult thing to praise anyone. We may admire so many people and their work but fail to give credit openly or acknowledge and praise the persons concerned.

This is what I did and it was a win win day for both of us. Now let us just think about how much success can be achieved in a day if we follow all of Emerson’s success formula.

The challenge of success is to follow the simple values. The few simple things in life will always account for the major successes in our life. It is not to suggest that there are only these simple ideas that would affect our successes but it is our focus on the simple things that will have the greatest impact in our lives. What we read above of Emerson’s words are proven wisdom that have flowed down for centuries but yet retained their ageless and timeless relevance.

While success training is becoming more and more complex with new programs with fancy success matrixes or best sellers being touted as the ultimate answer, hitting us everyday, I invite you all to look at the challenge of understanding the simple yet powerful wisdom of the the great thinkers such as Emerson.

Realistic Living

December 1st, 2007

” The fountain of content must spring up in the mind,
and he who hath so little knowledge of human nature as
to seek happiness by changing anything but his own
disposition, will waste his life in fruitless efforts
and multiply the grief he purposes to remove.” –
Samuel Johnson

The one person, who is of more importance to you than
anyone else in the world, is just - YOU. And it is
your conception of yourself that determines your
relationship to life, and with everyone else with whom
you come in contact.

What do you know about you? The real you, not just
your physical body but your mind, consciousness and
identity that no one else really knows. What do you
know about life? The only thing that most of us really
know is that we are alive; but what that life is many
of us have not been able to discover.

Disposition as used by Samuel Johnson simply means the
natural qualities of a person’s character. Alan Jones
once said that ” one of our problems is that very few
of us have developed any distinctive personal life.
Everything about us seems secondhand” What is it about
you that makes you different? What is it about your
character that makes you stand out from the crowd?
What principles do you live by that makes you unique?
What are those things that make up your value system?

Are you a principled centered person or are you spouse
centered, family centered, money centered, work
centered, pleasure centered, possession centered,
friend centered, enemy centered or self centered?
Whatever is at the center of your life will be the
source of your security, guidance, wisdom & power.
Security and clear guidance brings true wisdom, and
wisdom becomes the spark or catalyst to release and
direct power.

Three factors namely: purpose, people and paradigm
will go in a long way in determining the principles
you have. Your natural qualities-your behavior and
character are shaped and reshaped, formed and
reformed, created and recreated by these factors.

PURPOSE

We must create a version of our present and future
life. It will require spending serious time asking
ourselves “Who do I really want to be and how do I get
there?” This version and dream must be based on a
genuine understanding of your own talents, skills and
desires.

When you give yourself the freedom and permission to
be true to yourself you come up with important
principles that continually takes you towards
fulfilling your true purposes.

Due to the fact that so many external influences
confuse the pursuit of genuine purposes you must draw
up principles that do not change regardless of these
influences.

PEOPLE

The people factor is one that cannot be
over-emphasized in the sense that we were born and we
are still living in a world of people with various
ideas, ideals and values.

Some people- friends, parents, bosses, co-workers –
may want to recreate you in their own image. They have
preconceived ideas of who you should be, what you
should be, what you should do and how you should love
and all these affect the kind of principles you have
about life.

You may allow yourself to be recreated in the image of
someone else. The truth is you were already created in
someone else’s image, the image of God. Your task is
to devote your life to making principles that
authenticates your God-given self.

PARADIGM

Your paradigm or your pattern of doing things is a bye
product of so many factors; such as your cultural and
religious background.

The cultural practices and believes you know and
sometimes participates in. your religious background –
your faith, believe and your understanding of several
religious practices will go a long way in determining
your paradigm.

Your paradigm is one of the factors that determines
your principles and must be based on believes that are
well established in your faith. Must be based on your
relationship with God and not on a religion.

Realistic living is all about taking time to
understand your disposition- the natural qualities of
your person, with a view at examining what it is that
your life is centered around and afterwards creating
principles that will guide you to a life you want
bearing at the back of your mind the roles played by
these three factors – purpose, people and paradigm.

Is your life based on correct principles that do not
change, regardless of internal conditions, influences
and circumstances? Are you guided by a compass, which
enables you to see where you want to go and how you
will get there? Does your judgment encompasses a broad
spectrum of long-term consequences and reflects a wise
balance and quiet assurance? Are you a self-aware,
knowledgeable, proactive individual, largely
unrestricted by the attitudes, behaviors and actions
of others?

40 Common Dreams - Discover the Wealth that Lie Hidden in Your Dreams

November 11th, 2007

You don’t realize it, but in the next few minutes you are going to learn how vital information that you may be receiving every night while you sleep could hold the key to your happiness, protection, peace and prosperity.
Let’s begin with:

5 Little-Known Facts

• What has a dream got to do with the making of a world champion golfer?

• What did one of the greatest inventors of all time learn in a dream that you and I are still spending our money on the result over 100 years later?

• How did a dream lead a famous scientist to a discovery that got him the Nobel Prize for Physics?

• What type of dream was responsible for preserving the life of one of the most infamous persons the world has ever known?

• How did an unrecognized warning in a dream lead to the death of one of America’s greatest presidents?

Did you know…

• Opportunities you should be taking to usher in a new and better life for yourself and your loved ones can come in the dream?

• the significance of dream symbols that bring prosperity such as fruits, trees, certain colors, and even numbers you see in the dream.

• That most dreams are time-sensitive – they should be acted on immediately for best results

• Why certain dreams should be cancelled and the simple prayers to pray and cancel them

• How to pray and exactly what to pray for your good dreams to manifest… quickly

• A simple technique for remembering all your dreams when you wake up so you can take the correct action

Examples

Let’s start with an example of a famous Bible dreamer and interpreter… and how his dream brought him fame, wealth, recognition, power… because

God Uses Dreams…
To Reveal Secrets!

Joseph

Dreams caused great trouble for Joseph and his brothers. “Here comes the dreamer,” say the brothers. Let’s slay him and then let us see what will become of his dreams” (Genesis 32:19).

Joseph is thrown into a pit and eventually sold to traders, who bring him to Egypt. But Joseph’s understanding of dreams brought him blessings and prosperity.
His interpretation of Pharaoh’s dreams led to his appointment as Prime Minister of Egypt… and saved his family from famine.
In both Old and New Testaments, dreams and visions were regarded as revelations from the Spirit.

Contrary to what many people think,

Dreams Were Critical
To The Life And Death

Of Christ

Although dreams are not as frequent in the New Testament their role is critical in the life and death of our Lord Jesus Christ.

While Joseph and Mary were first together an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream with this message: “Joseph… do not be afraid to take Mary to be your wife. For it is by the Holy Spirit that she has conceived. She will have a Son, and you will name Him Jesus – because He will save His people from their sins” (Matt 1:20-21).

The wise men after being guided by a star to the stable where Jesus was born, are “warned in a dream not to return to Herod” (Matt 2:12). Joseph is then warned in a dream that “Herod will be looking for the child in order to kill Him. So get up, take the Child and His mother and escape to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you to leave” (Matt 2:13).

Joseph remained in Egypt until he received these instructions from an angel in a dream: “Get up, take the Child and His mother, and go back to the land of Israel, because those who tried to kill the Child are dead” (Matt 2:20).

Thirty years later, while Pilate was contemplating the fate of Jesus, he receives this message from his wife, “Have nothing to do with that just man, for I have suffered many things in a dream today because of Him” (Matt 27:19).
And here’s a big secret:

Modern Day Scientists

Do NOT Want You To
Find Out!

Did you know that the great composer Mozart received many of his most glorious compositions through dreams?

Or that Robert Louis Stevenson struggled for days over a short story that refused to take shape until a dream transformed it into the classic “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde?”

Or that Dmitry Mendeleyev, a brilliant 19th century chemist and physicist recreated the Periodic Table during his waking hours after it appeared to him in it’s entirety in a dream?

Or if Dr. Jonas Salk had chosen to ignore his dreams, the polio vaccine might never have existed?

Did you know that dreams inspired everything from Elias Howe’s invention of the sewing machine to Thomas Edison’s invention of the light bulb?

And here’s possibly…
The Biggest
Shocker Of All

Did you ever know that the Theory of Relativity came to Einstein in a dream?

In her book, “Wake Up to Your Dream” Sandra Collier discussed how dreaming affected Albert Einstein.

Hear Einstein himself tell his dream:

“I was sledding with my friends at night. I started to slide down the hill but my sled started going faster and faster. I was going so fast that I realized I was approaching the speed of light. I looked up at that point and I saw the stars. They were being refracted into colors I had never seen before. I was filled with a sense of awe. I understood in some way that I was looking at the most important meaning in my life.”

Years later, Einstein said, “I knew I had to understand that dream and you could say, and I would say, that my entire scientific career has been a meditation on my dream.”

Whoa! That’s from the man acknowledged as the greatest scientist who ever lived!

Let me ask you a question:

“Do you even bother with your dreams?”
Did you know that…

The Secrets of Your Greatness

May Have Been Given to You

Already in Your Dreams?”

Or (this is a scary one)…

“Do you ever consider that many times you have even received warnings in your dreams… and due to lack of understanding you may have unknowingly allowed some nasty things to happen to you?”

The President’s Case

A few days before he was killed, Abraham Lincoln said that he was impressed by the number of prophetic dreams in the Bible.
When his wife asked him why he’d brought this up, Lincoln related a dream he just had.

He was wandering through the halls of the White House trying to find out where the sound of weeping people was coming from. His search led him to the East Room where he saw a coffin lying on a platform, guarded by soldiers and surrounded by a throng of mourners.

“Who is dead?” he asked in the dream.

“The president, killed by an assassin” was the answer.
The loud grieving sobs of mourners finally awoke Lincoln from the dream.

We all know the rest of the story… Lincoln was killed by an assassin’s bullet a few days later.

Cutting the Root of Suffering and Obstacles

November 9th, 2007

This is my 18th year of teaching trainings – four per year! One of the best things about teaching this course is that I always present something I never have presented before. It may be a new idea altogether, or a core concept that I have presented many times, but that I suddenly find I am presenting in a completely new way.

I found myself explaining to this class that all problems arise from the ego — the sense of limited fearful separation. Problems, defined as unnecessary emotional suffering, are optional! We’re not required to have them, and in fact, we never have a justifiable reason to suffer fearful emotional distress! Of course we will experience sadness and grief at the loss of a loved one, but without a sense of ego, of limited self, we do not suffer distress — in the sense of being diminished or weakened or deprived by the experience. Without the ego, we don’t create a mournful story which we constantly replay to depress ourselves.

As I presented this in class, I was astonished — even though these ideas are by no means new to me. Presenting to the class in this way made them new to me once again. So I started contemplating daily on my morning walks – remembering that the only problems or suffering I have are due to ego attachment. Otherwise I could be experiencing the Higher Self List 24 hours a day – Joy, Freedom, Exuberance, etc., (see my other ezine articles on choosing the Higher Self and releasing anger).

On these walks I realized that just because a particular outcome I was looking forward to has not yet appeared, nor the funds to realize it, does not require me to shrink in any fearful way. I saw how grasping and desiring this outcome was creating a temptation to feel fearful and small. So I released this attachment repeatedly and enjoyed the sense of lightness and openness in my chest, and the clarity in my mind, that resulted.

Then I went further, examining the desire to grasp “Jack,” to “be Jack,” to identify as this body/mind. I repeatedly practiced releasing my hold on being Jack, on wanting to survive as this body. Releasing at the root of ego in this way made it very clear that stress, and having problems are entirely optional.

Does it seem outrageous to think in this way – to question the idea that you are your body/mind/personality? Since we all will have to release it at the moment of death, why wait until we are forced to let go? It may seem very scary if we wait. Don’t you think it would be better to practice now, so that letting go of the body at the moment of death could actually be fun? Having released attachment to the body so thoroughly in advance – at the moment of death it would already be a done deal! Not only that, we would have lived a life free of suffering and full of Joy!

This is one way to define an enlightened being: someone who is completely free from body/mind/personality identification. By the way, body/mind/personality functions just fine, and even much better, once the grasping identification is released.

You might try repeatedly asking yourself, “Can I let go of being (your name), can I let go of thinking I am this body?” It doesn’t matter whether the answer is ‘yes’ or ‘no’ – either one is OK. Just notice your inner feeling each time you ask.

Good luck!
