Holiday Shopping Tips: Panettone makes a thoughtful gift

March 30th, 2008

(NC)If you are of Italian decent, you are well aware that panettone is the traditional Christmas fruit bread of Italy, offered to family throughout the season and to friends when they drop by. In Canada, authentic panettone is readily available now sent by bakeries like Motta. Better still, the fruit bread - shaped like a cake - is packaged in shimmering gold paper at this time of year, perfect for ready-made, pre-wrapped gifts. You can bet that a gift of panettone for the uninitiated will be original indeed - and will likely spark conversation about this and so many other Italian customs at Christmastime.

Tell the recipient of your gift that the traditional candied-fruit and raisin panettone makes a nice light dessert when it is served warm from the oven with cream or ice cream. In Italy, it is also served with butter and jam for brunch, toasted for breakfast, and it is also known to produce exceptional french toast. At parties panettone may even be offered when sipping a glass of champagne. The tradition - spearheaded by the Milan baker Angelo Motta at the turn of the previous century - gradually embraced a variety of panettone-style cakes, such as tartufone filled with chocolate drops, chocolate icing, or frosted with white sugar.

“Panettone maintains its soft, light texture and fragrance if it is kept in its original packaging in a cool, dry place,” says John-Paul Violante, spokesperson for Motta. “And do tell your friends that panettone will be even softer and tastier if it is warmed in the oven at a moderate temperature for a few minutes. In addition to the festively wrapped product, panettone is also available in the familiar Motta box for easy transportation.”

Check the label before purchasing however to be sure the contents originate from Italy, even if the packaging appears to be Motta. The company says there are fakes of lower quality hitting Canadian shops from places like Peru.

“Authentic panettone, baked with natural yeast, and butter, eggs and fruit, will maintain its freshness if wrapped in several layers of plastic wrap,” Violante said, “or it can be frozen for up to a month. Even so, remember to tell your friends that leftover, slightly dry fruit and raisin panettone is destined to make unforgettable toast.”

Search Engine Keywords Selection

March 28th, 2008

Copyright © Herman Dias http://www.Money-Earner.com

Search engines are the vehicles that drive potential customers
to your websites. But in order for visitors to reach their
destination - your website - you need to provide them with
specific and effective signs that will direct them right to your
site. You do this by creating carefully chosen keywords.

Think of the right keywords as the Open Sesame! of the Internet.
Find the exactly right words or phrases, and presto! hoards of
traffic will be pulling up to your front door. But if your
keywords are too general or too over-used, the possibility of
visitors actually making it all the way to your site - or of
seeing any real profits from the visitors that do arrive -
decreases dramatically.

Your keywords serve as the foundation of your marketing
strategy. If they are not chosen with great precision, no matter
how aggressive your marketing campaign may be, the right people
may never get the chance to find out about it. So your first
step in plotting your strategy is to gather and evaluate
keywords and phrases.

You probably think you already know EXACTLY the right words for
your search phrases. Unfortunately, if you haven’t followed
certain specific steps, you are probably WRONG. It’s hard to be
objective when you are right in the center of your business
network, which is the reason that you may not be able to choose
the most efficient keywords from the inside. You need to be able
to think like your customers. And since you are a business owner
and not the consumer, your best bet is to go directly to the
source.

Instead of plunging in and scribbling down a list of potential
search words and phrases yourself, ask for words from as many
potential customers as you can. You will most likely find out
that your understanding of your business and your customers’
understanding is significantly different.

The consumer is an invaluable resource. You will find the words
you accumulate from them are words and phrases you probably
never would have considered from deep inside the trenches of
your business.

Only after you have gathered as many words and phrases from
outside resources should you add your own keyword to the list.
Once you have this list in hand, you are ready for the next
step: evaluation.

The aim of evaluation is to narrow down your list to a small
number of words and phrases that will direct the highest number
of quality visitors to your website. By “quality visitors” I
mean those consumers who are most likely to make a purchase
rather than just cruise around your site and take off for
greener pastures. In evaluating the effectiveness of keywords,
bear in mind three elements: popularity, specificity, and
motivation.

Popularity is the easiest to evaluate because it is an objective
quality. The more popular your keyword is, the more likely the
chances are that it will be typed into a search engine which
will then bring up your URL.

You can now purchase software that will rate the popularity of
keywords and phrases by giving words a number rating based on
real search engine activity. Software such as WordTracker will
even suggest variations of your words and phrases. The higher
the number this software assigns to a given keyword, the more
traffic you can logically expect to be directed to your site.
The only fallacy with this concept is the more popular the
keyword is, the greater the search engine position you will need
to obtain. If you are down at the bottom of the search results,
the consumer will probably never scroll down to find you.

Popularity isn’t enough to declare a keyword a good choice. You
must move on to the next criteria, which is specificity. The
more specific your keyword is, the greater the likelihood that
the consumer who is ready to purchase your goods or services
will find you.

Let’s look at a hypothetical example. Imagine that you have
obtained popularity rankings for the keyword “automobile
companies.” However, you company specializes in bodywork only.
The keyword “automobile body shops” would rank lower on the
popularity scale than “automobile companies,” but it would
nevertheless serve you much better. Instead of getting a slew of
people interested in everything from buying a car to changing
their oil filters, you will get only those consumers with
trashed front ends or crumpled fenders being directed to your
site. In other words, consumers ready to buy your services are
the ones who will immediately find you. Not only that, but the
greater the specificity of your keyword is, the less competition
you will face.

The third factor is consumer motivation. Once again, this
requires putting yourself inside the mind of the customer rather
than the seller to figure out what motivation prompts a person
looking for a service or product to type in a particular word or
phrase. Let’s look at another example, such as a consumer who is
searching for a job as an IT manager in a new city. If you have
to choose between “Seattle job listings” and “Seattle IT
recruiters” which do you think will benefit the consumer more?
If you were looking for this type of specific job, which keyword
would you type in? The second one, of course! Using the second
keyword targets people who have decided on their career, have
the necessary experience, and are ready to enlist you as their
recruiter, rather than someone just out of school who is
casually trying to figure out what to do with his or her life in
between beer parties. You want to find people who are ready to
act or make a purchase, and this requires subtle tinkering of
your keywords until your find the most specific and directly
targeted phrases to bring the most motivated traffic to you site.

Once you have chosen your keywords, your work is not done. You
must continually evaluate performance across a variety of search
engines, bearing in mind that times and trends change, as does
popular lingo. You cannot rely on your log traffic analysis
alone because it will not tell you how many of your visitors
actually made a purchase.

Luckily, some new tools have been invented to help you judge the
effectiveness of your keywords in individual search engines.
There is now software available that analyzes consumer behavior
in relation to consumer traffic. This allows you to discern
which keywords are bringing you the most valuable customers.

This is an essential concept: numbers alone do not make a good
keyword; profits per visitor do. You need to find keywords that
direct consumers to your site who actually buy your product,
fill out your forms, or download your product. This is the most
important factor in evaluating the efficacy of a keyword or
phrase, and should be the sword you wield when discarding and
replacing ineffective or inefficient keywords with keywords that
bring in better profits.

Ongoing analysis of tested keywords is the formula for search
engine success. This may sound like a lot of work - and it is!
But the amount of informed effort you put into your keyword
campaign is what will ultimately generate your business’ rewards.

Paintball Games - Enhance the Challenge

March 27th, 2008

Since the first paintball game in the 1980s, much has changed in the sport. Paintball is a unique activity in the fact that it offers benefits for players of all skill levels.

Paintball is a game for the beginner and the expert. That being said, the game does change with experience. Novice paintball enthusiasts take advantage of the many games offered by the local paintball field, while expert players enjoy more intricate games.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying the games that are most enjoying. However, getting the most out of paintball might require some exploration.

Capture the flag is a lot of fun to play, and all teammates have an opportunity to participate. Team chemistry and teambuilding are some of the best outcomes that the game can present. Players that don’t get out playing as often as they would like, have a chance for some serious play.

Arena games can also be enjoyed by players of any skill level. Of course, the experienced players will have an advantage. The more it’s played, the better the paintball player will be.

What’s Missing From Paintball?

Much more can be experienced from paintball. Expert players are starting to test out new games. Paintball scenario games have proven to be quite the experience.

Scenario games give the player a once in a lifetime paintball occurrence. The games are planned in advanced, with two large teams competing. Each player has a role in the game, with the teams depending on the player.

The games last anywhere from 24 to 48 hours and are filled with unmatched intensity. Bridges are “blown up” and helicopters fly over-head. War-inspired paintball games change players’ lives.

Who Can Play the Game?

Beginners have a hard time joining the scenario games. They are intimidated by the expert players for the obvious reasons. But they don’t need to be. Any player can add to the team and participate. Once a player gets involved in a paintball scenario game they are addicted for life.

Scenario games are the real deal, and anyone can play. The best paintball equipment is not necessary to play. The camaraderie will last a lifetime, and the desire to play again will never end.

Gather up the friends and Paintball Markers and find a great scenario game in the area. If it takes a trip in the car, it is worth it. The life changing experience of scenario games will change the way paintball will be viewed. Paintball is a lifestyle, not just a game, so go out and explore the possibilities.

Unusual Baseball Statistics

February 17th, 2008

The ezine for baseball lovers…
Statistics - I love ‘em

I have been fascinated by some of the statistics that have been amassed by some of the major leaguers. Viewing some players numbers has amazed me.

Here are a few achievements I thought might interest you.

Re: Rogers Hornsby

>From 1921 to 1925 he batted 2679 times - He hit safely 1078 times and averaged .402 during this five year run. Not too shabby

>From ages 36 to 41 - his final six years in the Majors he batted 350 times total
Hit safely 105 times and fell 70 hits short of 3000 hits for his career.
Maybe he could have planned better

Lou Gehrig

>From 1930 to 1934 he drove in 813 runs
An average of 162 RBIs per year - Enough said

Ty Cobb

He had 1937 RBIs in his career
He never hit more than 12 home runs in a single year
Seven times he knocked in over 100 runs

Runs Batted In
This following stats are based on a per game basis
Here are a few of the highest numbers.
Lou Gehrig .921
Hank Greenburg .915
Joe Dimaggio .885
Jimmy Foxx .859 Hey where’s The Babe?

These RBIs are based on a per at bat basis
Here are some of the highest

Luxembourg vs. Germany

January 31st, 2008

Freibourg, Germany 05.27.2006

Luxembourg is one of the tiniest countries in Europe, and is also one of the ones with less or none achievement at all in soccer. Luxembourg last made it to a European Soccer Championship in 1963, and to date this is the greatest claim to soccer fame for Luxembourg sandwiched between France, Germany and Belgium.

The Luxembourg Soccer Association’s naming of former Danish star Allan Simonsen as head coach in January 2002 indicates a new level of commitment. The European player of the Year in 1977 was asked to nurture young talent and build a strong national team for the future.

Luxembourg has participated in every qualifying stage since 1934 and it has not qualified in any. In this year qualifying stage they ended with no points and no goals in last place of their group.

Among the accomplishments Germany has gained over the years we can quote; three times world cup winner, four times vice world champion, two third places in a World Cup, three times European championship and two times runners up in a European championship. Also they participated in all the World Cups since 1954 and have played in all European championships since 1972.

With a quick look at the history of this country it’s easy to figure out why they’re one of the favorite teams to win this year edition of the World Cup. On top of that, they’re the hosting country, which adds more in their favor; since all the games they play will count with the support of the entire country.

So with that said we can add that Germany like all the other national teams will use these friendly matches to fine-tune those last minutes details that can make a big difference when it comes to important tournaments like this, mostly when a team is so young like this they can’t leave any room for error.

The Germany team needs to give a good performance in this World Cup in order not to let their fans and their country down. In order to do that, they need to make the best of this friendly match to be fully prepared for the tournament.

These matches are fun to watch since there’s are no points at stake the teams play lose and without pressure; that’s why if you like sports betting this is a good chance to bet on your favorite team.

How accurate are paintball guns?

January 13th, 2008

Many paintball guns or makers are advertised as being more
accurate, shooting farther or having a better trajectory over
other paintball guns. But is this really true? Can one paintball
gun be more accurate than another?

Many paintball experts argue that no one paintball gun is more
accurate than another. In fact, many say that associating the
word accuracy with a paintball gun is ludicrous. While there are
certain factors that can prevent your paintball gun from firing
as far or as accurate as it can, most experts agree that no
marker or gun can be more accurate than another because no bolt
configuration can be more accurate than another.

There are many factors that can affect your paintball gun’s
accuracy including wind resistance, temperature and your FPS
reading. These factors cannot be controlled but are also
experienced by other paintballers on the field so the paintball
playing field is usually pretty level when it comes to
equipment.

Just as there are some factors affecting your guns accuracy that
you cannot control, there are a few factors that you can
control. While these factors will not make your paintball gun
shoot farther or more accurate than it is designed to, they can
keep your gun from performing at its best if not examined
closely.

Perhaps the most important factor you should consider when
examining your paintball gun for performance is the match in
barrel and paintball bore sizes. To test for this, you should
insert a paintball into one end of the barrel and blow the
paintball out of the other end. If the paintball is propelled
with very little force or with only a great amount of force, you
are using a paintball that is either too small or too large for
your barrel. Choose instead a paintball that is expelled using
only a slight force.

The second thing that you can do to ensure that your paintball
gun or maker is as accurate as it can be is to pay special
attention to the air system and choose the best one you can
find. A good rule of thumb to follow is to choose a paintball
gun air system with a high flow and recharge rate and a
well-built regulator.

You can also increase your accuracy by ensuring your paintball
gun’s consistency during firing. You can do this by purchasing a
high-flow regulator which allows more air to flow inside the
gun, increasing consistency.

So, before you spend more money on a paintball gun or marker
because you think it will be more accurate than a lower-priced
model, remember what the experts have said about paintball guns
and accuracy. You just might save yourself some hard-earned
cash.

No Weiners at the Table!

January 3rd, 2008

The Year is 2168

The Place: Winnipeg, North Dakota, USA

The Channel: 51,479 on your in-brain t.v. chip

Your on site personal newshost is: Zig Zaggner

Hello again, everybody, and welcome to the negotiating table, I’m the straight-shooting Zig Zaggner, telling it like it is…direct to your cranium.

Today, we’re talking hot dogs. Weiner Corp International has finally consented to re-opening negotiations with the Union of Processed Meat Employees after 12 hours of stalled talks, and credit for all this is being given to one Gus Simpson.

Gus, what’s your part in all this?

I, uh, like hot dogs, Zig.

And?

And, well, that’s it. I really miss having my hot dogs.

So what did you do to get the parties back to the negotiating table?

I, uh, yelled and screamed and stomped my foot.

I see. And now you’re right in here as part of the negotiations too.

That’s right, Zig. You see, as a member of the hot dog eating public, I am a STAKE HOLDER in this process. Those are MY hot dogs they are NOT producing. I am ENTITLED to those hot dogs. These people do not have the right to keep me from my processed meat!

Surely, not. We should also mention to the folks at home, and listening up there on the moon, that there is a long, illustrious history of consumers injecting themselves into the middle of labour negotiations. It dates back to the late, great Jim Boone, whose Ottawa-based NHL Fans Association first claimed the right to sit at a negotiating table.

I am proud to call myself a Booner, Zig.

Quite. With 25,000 members, Boone managed to get a seat at the negotiating table back in the year 2005 when the owners of a sport called Ice Hockey, had trouble with the athletes called Ice Hockey Players.

Can I interject here, Zig.

Uh, sure Gus.

If it wasn’t for Boone and his organization, we might not have Ice Hockey today.

We don’t have Ice Hockey today, Gus. Global warming has made that sport impossible.

Ya, but if we could have ice.

We can’t Gus. Get a grip.

Look, I haven’t had a hot dog since 7:18 this morning, so I’m a little edgy, okay? It’s not like the public has much choice in what they eat anymore. Without hot dogs, I’m having to eat, well, you don’t want to know!

Our viewers want to know!

Well, Some Processed Alternative Meat.

Ugh! Ooopsy, it looks like we have some activity here. The parties are being ushered back into the negotiating room and, of course, you’ll be right there with us. The President of Weiner Corp and the head of UPME are about to address the group together. Let’s listen.

(Cough!) Ladies and gentlemen, I think I can speak on behalf of Weiner Corp and the Union of Processed Meat Employees when I say “What were we thinking?” Here I was looking out for the interests of Weiner shareholders and completing overlooking the needs of Weiner eaters.

And I was looking out for the needs of the UPME membership and missing the big picture too. The Weiner eaters.

Together we beg the forgiveness of Gus Simpson and every other Processed Meat Consumer. Weiner employees have agreed to take a massive pay cut and Weiner Corp has agreed to, um, revise our budgets accordingly so y’all can eat wieners again. And finally, our creative department has come up with a new slogan for Weiner Corp International. So here’s the head of that department, Sandy Beech.

Thank you, sir. The new slogan for Weiner Corp International is: Weiners aren’t a luxury, they’re a right. So get stuffed with your Rights!

Buying Golf Equipment

December 15th, 2007

Getting the right equipment to play the game of golf is not that
difficult. All it takes is for the person to look at the right
place and getting value for one’s money. One can check the local
directory or ask someone for directions on how to get there.
Here are some tips buying golf gear:

1. Before one starts buying, it is best to first check if that
person has the budget for it. There are many brands available
and this is sometimes the determining factor which will make a
person do well in the green or not.

2. How often will the person use it is another factor. It
doesn’t take that much to maintain golf equipment since all a
person needs is a roller brush or a small towel. If the person
is just starting out in golf, the brand does not matter but it
will later on as the person decides to invest more in the sport.

3. Most golf shops sell brand new and second hand equipment. If
that person can’t afford a new set, it is advisable to first
start with a used one then save up for a brand new one later on.

4. Some people can’t tell the difference how one brand is
better than another. If that person has that problem, one should
ask the sales person for help since that individual is more
familiar with what is there available in the shop.

5. Buying golf equipment can be challenging. By looking in more
than one store, a person can probably get a good deal or find an
item that is cheaper in one store than the one down the street.

6. Golf specialty stores are just one place where one can get
good merchandise. The other is via the internet. There area many
websites that also specialize in selling brand new and second
hand equipment. One can order it online and have it delivered to
one’s doorstep. Another way of doing, which may not carry a
whole line of things for golf, are auction sites where a person
can bid on a certain item and if one is the winning bidder, one
will also be able to get it in a few days.

7. Some experts who have played the game for quite some time
prefer to sell the old equipment to someone which saves money in
paying for a new one. If the person asks around, there is a
chance that individual will be lucky to get it at a good price
which is a far better deal then getting it from any golf shop.
